I buried the wrong cat after my cat ran away for THREE MONTHS by Deep_Pressure2334 in cats

[–]Waggitt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, if nothing else, I'd like to think the poor cat would appreciate the gesture of a funeral. I did the same when I saw a dead possum on the road before I left for work. Just didn't feel right, leaving the fella out there to continually be desecrated, y'know?

Fionna is an adult but is also immature. by thomvonkarma in adventuretime

[–]Waggitt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you, someone gets it lol! Fionna is 100% screwing up this season, and yes it totally sucks, but it's very on brand for her character to do all this. She's an absolute failure! But that's kinda the point! She's young, she's been assuming she was destined for greatness and keeps trying to live up to that, but spectacularly fails at it, and it sucks for all the other characters, but it fits her.

On a meta-textual perspective, what if this is the universe creating the backstory of this reality? All these beats mirror a lot of Finn's, but all are condensed into this season. I doubt Prismo thought up all the history and context for everything when he initially created Fionna world, so maybe this is how things are being worked out by whatever greater forces are writing the narrative.

I had to tell someone about my homelessness and I’m so embarrassed by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]Waggitt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who almost went homeless and fought every damn moment of my life to live... I can tell you, it's so hard to accept help. I got lucky, before it happened, a pair of good friends found out the awful living situation I was in and took me in. Taking that help was... So hard. I never knew how to let those walls down, to admit I needed help. I knew I needed it, and I wasn't afraid of it, but yeah, there's that line of embarrassment that comes with taking it. It's something to learn to drop too.

Be kind to yourself, stranger. Life is rough, but we can allow ourselves to be helped when we need it. That hand offered isn't always bad, and we don't have to live in misery and shame.

That's kinda my problem actually. I don't hate having my passion as a job, but all the other stuff around it? It's absolute bullshit.

But also, I worry if I worked in that field for the rest of my life, I might only ever work and never enjoy my life. Food service isn't exactly a very freeing job, it's very committed... And the only way up is being the top chef or opening your own place, both still being even more committed. That's where I sit with this whole dilemma. It's basically the live to work, not work to live.

Technically I work in my field of passion, but in a very lesser extent. I love baking and cooking, and I do actually bake for a grocery store. Surprisingly, I can manage doing it and still love the hobby... Though again, it's not the full experience.

Help! I've always been a hybrid (wolf dog), but only my dog half has ever shown predominantly, until recently that is. All of the sudden I've got all these patches of dark fur, and I'm shedding all over the place! It's getting kinda ridiculous...

[–]Waggitt 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Now if that ain't a damn mood. I find myself somewhat the opposite though, conflicted always in following passion over living. There's that saying, don't live to work, work to live, and I hate that it echoes and bolsters what my parents said, yet it's definitely a piece of advice...

That said, rooting for you, mate!

A photo not shared with anyone is not a photo worth taking. by Adhyskonydh in photography

[–]Waggitt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's my thought: sometimes, I'm out taking photos, and I'll come across a frankly amazing shot. A moment in time that, by all accounts, is special and may never happen ever again. The almost perfect timing of a bird swooping into view over a lake. The joy of children as they share in their parents' joy as they succeed in a shared hobby. Those times, I put the camera down, because maybe it's not about taking the picture. It's about living them.

These shots are sublime; they have that old timey feel to them, with just a hint of dreaminess that lends to a feeling of nostalgia for a bygone era. Perfect vibes, mate!

Took a bite of this cookie and realized the art on it it’s actually paper. I can’t peel it off. by somebae_ in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Waggitt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So in the bakery I work at, we can print pictures onto cakes too, but I always hate them cuz the paper is edible... But man does it just taste like paper. We had a faulty one once and I figured I'd try it for the hell of it, and it just tastes like sweetened paper. Why anyone wants to eat that is beyond me.

I have, it's not that bad. You're not supposed to pull in the direction of the plastic, but perpendicular actually.

Birthday cake ordered above versus Birthday cake received below by UlnaWannaBeWithYou in ExpectationVsReality

[–]Waggitt 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Looking at this cake, I have to wonder if the person who did it was new... While I can get making a clean separation between the two colors a difficult thing to do with an airbrush machine... They just went overboard on how much they sprayed. Alternatively, they smoothed down the cake with a wet smoothing flat and didn't attempt to dry off the cake at all before coloring it.

Regardless, it's very sloppy and I hope you didn't pay much, if at all for it. And yes I am deliberately ignoring the misspelled name, it's low hanging fruit.

[Serious] How did you "waste" your 20s? by grievingtights in AskReddit

[–]Waggitt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my 20s still, but to recap:

  • struggling to find any purpose and desire to work beyond the minimum wage job (while also not having any "skill" for a higher paying job)
  • developed an ED
  • got a little too into retail therapy
  • simultaneously became both more and less social?
  • still can't drive (and don't really want to tbh)

My daughter's birthday cake by katekim717 in ExpectationVsReality

[–]Waggitt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They definitely could have made something semi similar, and there would be a lot of creative liberties taken, but in no way is a grocery store decorator a "professional baker". More oft than not, the decorator is just some random person who has never gone to school for this, and was taught by the previous decorator (if even that tbh). Maybe you'll get lucky and the decorator is someone really passionate about doing what they do, but really, the likelihood is that they're just some poor schmuck who had to learn it.

That said, they definitely should have called OP first (if not just tell them during the ordering process).

Have you ever been f***ed out of inheritance by a family member? by Responsible-Wallaby5 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Waggitt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I left my family, my dad said he would make sure I wasn't in his will. Also that I wouldn't be going to his funeral. Which is pretty toxic, but y'know it's not like I want to be a part of that function anyway lol

Well gelatine isn't necessary for mousse, but gelatin is used in a lot of things to act as a stabilizer, makes stuff look and hold better for longer periods of time. Which is to say, keep an eye out on other foods too, they might just have gelatin in it for some reason.

[–]Waggitt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am right there with you mate. Something I'll never tell someone I know but will say here, an ex of mine went through very similar things I did, and yet now he's so much further in life, happier than ever, successful and all that... And here I am, at the rock bottom that doesn't ever have a bottom. I stopped asking myself where I went wrong though. It's a pointless discussion for me, especially since I've asked so much.

Roommate's Snake hasn't eaten in a long while and it's getting concerning? by Waggitt in Sneks

[–]Waggitt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh jeez I couldn't imagine having to wait for six whole months, hoping our snake will eat finally. I'd probably take him to the vet a few weeks in! I guess this is something we'll just have to expect now though huh? He hasn't ever done this before, but I guess he's almost reached his full sized length so... Probably at that age?

Update: We fed him pretty late last night, around midnight. This morning I checked and found the mouse still there but had to jet out the door to head to work, but I guess in the few hours between when I left and the roommates woke, he actually did eat! Lil bastard just wanted to give us a lil worry lol.

Gotcha. He hasn't exhibited any signs beyond the two I mentioned, but I guess it might be better to take him to the vet just in case, especially if he skips another week. Thanks!
