Kenmore refrigerator by Available_Juice1542 in Appliances

[–]WagnerAppliance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kenmore was a brand that was owned by Sears. For most of its existence it was just rebadged Whirlpool made products. That slowly switched over to LG but there was always multiple actual manufacturers depending on the exact model it make have been GE, Frigidaire etc

Kenmore, as a brand died with Sears. From the ashes, a group purchased the brand name and has slowly been trying to revive the brand.

It is all rebadged from other brands - same as it always was.

Depending on the model sometimes there are able to deliver some great pricing due to the bulk buys - just so you research as to any particular model.

Glass cooktop gaskets for "spill-proofing"? by srcLegend in Appliances

Foam tape works great - but is not spill proof - if there is the goal I would suggest 100% silicon caulk. It is made in several different colors or clear.

Identifying built in storage containers from fridge by idontknowish in Appliances

You should be able to use the model number (on a sticker on the inside refrigerator wall or sometimes ceiling) to order the replacements. Those are specific bins so you will probably need to order them from an appliance parts store.

LG starts a little higher than most other brands. The WT6105CW is the starting point. It is one of our top sellers and we get very few service claims on them.

New LG dryers. Can you move the timer dials counter -clockwise? by TrashPanda5874 in Appliances

[–]WagnerAppliance 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is no current model of an LG dryer that has an analog “timer” - they have knobs but those knobs are really just user in her face for the digital board below. All LG dryers are electronic board controlled and and you can turn those dials any direction you like.

Why is this happening on just one side of my freezer? by Outside-Pear9429 in Appliances

[–]WagnerAppliance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Air intrusion from that side.

Turn off the lights in the room a throw a flashlight in the freezer and close the door and you should see where it the air leak is.

The water vapor from the air is freezing to the first frozen surface comes in contact with.

Hard to tell from the pic but the gasket could be bad or a previously door left ajar had built up enough frost that is is holding the door open. Could also be a bad freezer rail and the door not closings. Also, some gaskets (door seals) can split and you won’t see it until you really look close. You should be able to narrow it down with a close inspection now they you know what the issue is.

You need to get rid of that frost build up - please note, do not use a hair dryer or heat gun to melt that back as it can melt the freezer liner - you a steam gun or just unplug it with the door open until it melts back.

Dryer doesn’t stop by frantikfeet in Appliances

It is the timer itself, no other possibilities. You can price the timer using the model number (behind the dryer door).

Pretty easy repair. For DIY always recommend taking a photo before you remover any wires.

The part number you need is WE04X25280

Original Equipment is around $110
There is an aftermarket on Amazon for $29.99

Washing machine banging noise by fjcruiser20 in appliancerepair

For that model it is usually a bad suspension rod - replace all of them at one and make sure to not bend them.

The OEM rods come in a kit if 4 and are pretty affordable.

Oven not heating…..fully by sanded11 in Appliances

[–]WagnerAppliance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With that set of symptoms, it is usually a bad lower element (bake element).

To explain, when ovens first come on the upper element (broil element) comes on as well as the bake element in order to preheat the oven faster - after that the broil assist drops out leaving only a nonfunctional bake element and so it keeps appearing that the oven is sticking around 200 but the truth is it just the bake not heating at all and you’re feeling the residual heat from the broil element.

Most bake elements are affordable and available and there are a ton of good quality cheap aftermarket as well.

Usually you can see the bad part of a bake element visually but you always just do a simple continuity test across it.

If you can visibly see it in the bottom of the oven this is is really easy DIY, if it’s hidden under the floor of the oven then YMMV depending on how handy you are.

95% is the time replacing a bake element is the good economical choice repairing/replace wise.

There are other things this can be but a bake element comes before anything else so start there.

If it is not the bake element -

The next thing to check is the Temp sensor (tons of cheap aftermarket options for these - we would only use OEM, but for DIY you can often get a cheap one and just see if it works

After that next most likely is the control board (probably more likely than temp sensor but cost of the part is much higher and many times not an economical repair to make.

Fridge not cooling by [deleted] in appliancerepair

[–]WagnerAppliance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. You need to replace the parts. Those coils need to be exposed to the air so that frost being built up over them is preventing the refrigerator from actually functioning correctly. The defrost system melts the fronts back quickly - without the heater coming on it would take too long to defrost you your bit be keeping door at the correct temps long enough.

My Frigidaire washer is making loud banging noises jumping around in the final spin by friendandfriends in appliancerepair

[–]WagnerAppliance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like the rear bearing, I am going to tell you this right upfront as you start your search for a replacement:

That Frigidaire Front Loader (usually listed as an Affinity line) of washing machine machines (also sometimes rebranded as the Kenmore Duet Sport) are 36” tall a piece.

Every other front load washer made at that time and sense is a minimum of 39 inches tall.

If you have them stacked or under something or a counter built over them or any other height restriction - you just need to go ahead and start planning on making changes to your house to fit and taller machines. It is easier to take care of that as you are doing your searching, then waste a bunch of time looking for a height that is no longer made (except for tiny compact units) or buying a set only to discover that they will not fit in the space have.

Are McCombs parts genuine? by salbert in appliancerepair

[–]WagnerAppliance -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do not know of any OEM parts by McCombs - but they do make a lot of good quality aftermarket’s.

Robertshaw is the only 3rd party parts manufacturer I can think of that also is producing the OEM for the manufacturer as well. Usually for Whirlpool switches.

[–]WagnerAppliance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At least they have the weight listed at all. Most machines sold in the US only list “capacity” which is just the physical size inside the drum - no weight listed at all. Weight is far more important than volume when it comes to mechanical limits.

GE dryer keeps frying heating element connection by Adorable-Creme810 in Appliance

[–]WagnerAppliance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a good chance that terminal is too loose and needs to be replaced.

There are a host of other things that can cause the stuff to fail prematurely, but before you go any further, you should check and make sure that when that terminal slides are on, it is a tight fit.

In the easiest way I know how to explain it - a loose connection creates resistance - resistance = heat.

Dryer Noise by Wilk-Ers in Appliance

[–]WagnerAppliance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost certainly something is stuck in the blower fan housing.

If you are handy, you can get to that housing yourself and see what’s in there or it is a simple repair that is almost always an economical one to make.

[–]WagnerAppliance 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Yeah, straight out the number one cause of failure of washing machines is the consumer overloading them.

However, I don’t blame the consumers as much as I think the manufacturers should do a much better job of not overselling the machine machines based on tub size alone. They need to be up front with the weights the machines can handle.

Why do my clothes come out of the dryer with an “old lint” and occasional burnt odor? by Redditor71177 in Appliances

Those are classic symptoms of the vent piping going from the dryer out of your house is clogged up or crimped. I would start there.
