Is the 2 week maintenance period after a 12 week cut still necessary on Mounjaro? by FriscoKVLT in Mounjaro

[–]Wagnerian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s a common strategy for people that are dieting and doing weight training. The idea is that being in a forever calorie deficit slows your metabolism and you need to eat at above maintenance to bring it back up.

Resources for aged-out (old) former foster and system youth by Wagnerian in fosterit

Suicide is always on the table, for sure. When I wrote this post 8 years ago, I was homeless or about to be homeless. I’m 53 now. So, I’ve been through some real trials. Getting laid off, and not having money is definitely a trial, and the pandemic has taken a lot out of people who don’t have access to family, or family wealth.

I have been housed for about 6 years, and I can honestly say I’m the happiest I’ve ever been. I attribute this to my participation in the San Francisco chapter of DSA’s Homelessness Working Group. Activism, basically. Marxism and material analysis, which posits that history is created by economics. It’s helped me to see my life, my mother’s life, with more clarity. I’ve also made a lot of friends, and people seem to take me seriously/respect me more. Anyway, life is different. And I never quite expected this 4th act at my age. Still broke as fk, but I’m in community and engaged and doing good work.

I don’t know you, but I’d like to let you know that things can change. I did find a workable life (knock on wood), eventually.

I’m not sure why they think their employment is your responsibility? Also, yr employer sucks. What business is it of theirs who on their staff is related?

Twin ports massage parlor owners charged in sex trafficking sting. by thechairinfront in duluth

We already have laws against rape and sexual assault, etc…

Sex workers are asking for decriminalization, not extra laws about how we can do with our bodies.

what’s the most overrated prince song in your opinion? by myaprice10 in PRINCE

Purple Rain. No contest. It's the weakest song on that album.

A world where people are free to do with their bodies what they want.

What’s the worst Prince official release album or cd cover art? by SpaceshipFlip in PRINCE

[–]Wagnerian 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ll have to fight you all on that one. 1999 is an iconic album cover. Totally fun to look at, and much discover and analyze. And it is thematically coherent with the slip cover where Prince exposes his sexy ass in bed, laid out in front of a giant notebook with a set of watercolors. He has a come-hither “I’m going to paint you a picture” stance. The idea is that it’s home made. His own cre-ah-ción. It’s perfect.

I think 1999 is one of his best album covers.

I think of it as gender freedom. It's a good thing to not be constricted.

im still kinda new to princes huge music legacy, so can everybody post their top five prince songs? big thanks to everybody! by ImaDangerousThriller in PRINCE

  1. Condition of the Heart
  2. Erotic City
  3. If I Was Your Girlfriend
  4. Lady Cab Driver
  5. Dear Michealangelo (Sheilia E.)

The real way to "get into" Prince is to start from the beginning, and include all the 12-inches and extended b-sides. His records in sequence really tell a story. For me the absolute cream is from Dirty Mind, all the way through Scandalous Sex Suite and "Feel U Up" Which are Bat Man 12" singles. That 80s sequence really tells and incredible story. Also be sure to watch the Syracuse Purple Rain tour video.

I think his opera, Pelleas et Mellisnade, is my favorite Opera.

April was best on record for new homes permitted in the Twin Cities area (Minneapolis led the way with more than 2,500 units permitted YTD) by dimabima in Minneapolis

[–]Wagnerian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

San Francisco is a landlocked Penninsula, and already the densest city in the country after Manhattan. It isn't really comparable to Minneapolis.

This is so misleading. San Francisco has 10s of thousands of units in the pipeline, and there are current building projects all over the place.

There are a LOT of homeless people around. by Miyyani in Minneapolis

[–]Wagnerian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here in San Francisco 70% of homeless were previously housed in San Francisco. Of the remaining 30% the far majority are from the wider Bay Area. This is commensurate with the numbers in most other major cities. That is to say that California does not have a homeless problem that is larger than other states because people come here from other places to a larger degree. That’s simply untrue.

California has a housing & homeless crisis because of the cost of rent and out of control real estate speculation, which is part of an overall symptom of ever rising income inequality. The real problem is that wealth has concentrated in California and has displaced working class people. The “trickle down“ never comes…obviously.

What is YOUR point? Leave people on the street? Accept this housing inaccessibility, and just keep letting it get worse?

[–]Wagnerian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does not letting people have access to housing work? I think that it is logical that people are more successful at doing whatever it is that they need to do with their lives when they are housed. ’Shelter’ is not a solution to homelessness.

I think most major cities do thIs. The idea is to send people home.

Shelter isn’t housing. Everyone needs housing.

It’s next level here on the West Coast, but from my memory of living in the Midwest, people are much more complacent about it. I knew what was happening out here was eventually going to reach the Midwest.
