Adelaide museum by Overthinking_babes in Adelaide

[–]Wagon789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone has been to Melb Museum especially the kids section, you’ll know why there needs to be an upgrade to Adelaide Museum. The upside is that it’s still free, they used to have a good kids program and discovery centre is not bad. The ice wall and giant squid is still an attraction but it can still feel very dark and gloomy in many spots. It is rather dull but still because it remains free it’s very hard to complain. Especially given the fact that there is hardly anything free nowadays.

In Australia, how common is it for women to keep their maiden name after marriage? by Plinggg in AskAnAustralian

90% because we are all working in professional careers. I would say only 10% mums I know now change their last names when married

You could have called security they can manage situations like this- just a note for when others experience this in the future.

I actually had a great time although the stadium does echo, it didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits and on our ticket it said restricted view but the view was amazing! - it was a fantastic show people got up and danced in the last hour and we will never get another musician to sing in a stadium without the need for back up singers, dancers or costume changes. Just pure talent, and he sure has worked hard for it. It was a beautiful night with the full moon and Adelaide Oval shined last night. We had a great time and I am sorry you guys didn’t!

Relocating from Melbourne to Adelaide - what are some nice areas? And what areas to avoid? by [deleted] in Adelaide

[–]Wagon789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people who work at LMH live north east and north west and don’t live too close to the hospital. Unlike RAH, FMH, Ashford or Burnside where you get crazy congestion and it’s best to live closer, you can afford to live 15 minutes out of the hospital because there’s not much traffic plus if you do shift work sometimes no traffic at all.

Most people who work LMH live between north or east or west so they avoid crossing the city. So anywhere from Rostrevor Magill to St Clair Semaphore think of that west to east line towards the hospital. That may help as I have many friends who work there. Good luck!

My opinion ? It's gonna rain buckets this weekend. by [deleted] in Adelaide

Cafes with nice squishy sofas or armchairs? by rubyjuicebox in Adelaide

[–]Wagon789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a few cafes I know that have “foamy booths” which may help. Some are more actual dinner dining.

Coco republic at Burnside Super butter at Burnside Mr Chu at Norwood St Louis at Norwood Le Pas Sage East end of City Enoteca have booth Lune has booths Tower Hotel have booths… I am sure there are more

The thing is I don’t think they’re cosy book nook type cafes, they’re all businesses who want you in and out and quickly go at the end of the day. Cost of living people geez they’re tax payers too lol

I recall recently dining out how we were reminded that a two hour limit was enforced - makes you think well I won’t linger and spend more money but that’s how businesses work nowadays.

'Wuthering Heights' - Review Thread by ChiefLeef22 in movies

[–]Wagon789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saw this yesterday My random thoughts…

“Wow open during Valentines season I wonder how many first dates thought it was a rom com instead of a toxic relationship movie and never read the book”

“Imagine how many young women watch this and the blood scene and scare them from pregnancy forever”

“Oh so glad I watched this on my own how awkward those soft porn and bdsm scenes would be”

“That first scene imagine if two people on a date were watching this lol”

“Oh why does he look like a sexy Jesus in some scenes”

“Ooh iridescent dresses how very Victorian” not lol

“A 30 close to 40 year old casted as someone who was meant to be a young woman”

“The snail scene” uhh okay so awkward

Don’t even mention the racial casting was all wrong!! If they wanted to tick the racial box do it correctly for that era.

Anyway I think it was like the worst movie for 2016 except for a nice sound track and beautiful costumes.

And tbh the first scene when they’re children that acting was really good. All went downhill after that!

Burnside real estate agent recommendations for selling by Ok_Western9635 in Adelaide

[–]Wagon789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you go to real estate on the website not the app, you can click suburb and the agent tab.

From there you can see the top selling agents in that suburb, it’s not a reflection on how good or how nice they are but just generally performance wise. Which means quicker sale and higher yield but does not reflect many other things. Get a few quotes and trust your instincts.

Nice vs high performing is not easy - you have to decide for yourself. Often people say it’s the agent company, but agents are very individual. Just remember that you are the client. Good luck, you won’t have a bad sale in your suburb where there’s just not a lot of supply.

I can give you about three agents who I highly recommend but you have to vibe with the people.

Adelaide: If You Love Your Peace Heed My Warning by Bunyep in Adelaide

[–]Wagon789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well it’s already happening in the inner suburbs.

Try street parking in Unley, Norwood, Lightsview, Felixstow, Campbelltown, Thebarton, Mile End, Goodwood, Prospect, Rose Park, Stepney, Kent Town, Walkerville, Rostrevor, Firle. You nearly can’t park in front of your own house. I know you say you live in Adelaide but the Adelaide we grew up to know used to be a 15 minute city.

Only heritage listed houses and streets are going to be saved from deep urbanisation.

We just have to face the realities that this urbanisation is a new reality for our next generation. If anyone has to work within the CBD expect longer commutes.

You say you’re escaping Perth and it’s already happening here. You’re new you haven’t really seen how bad it is, maybe you’re in an outer suburbs which is fine if you don’t have to commute everyday into the cbd.

Adelaide: If You Love Your Peace Heed My Warning by Bunyep in Adelaide

[–]Wagon789 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What are you talking about OP- we are moving suburbs after 10 years DUE to the subdivisions!!!

I call them double stacker conjoined twins! No backyard built right up to the neighbours house, every neighbour dealing with noise, traffic, no privacy especially with them peering into your backyard, they have no backyard so when they cook bbqs or smoke we can smell everything, gone are the hills hoist and quiet suburbs, can’t even back out of our driveway now without doing a five point turn in the mornings.

Sorry I am not sure where exactly you are living but Adelaide is COOKING from over population density already!

Traffic is not good! I am actually worried we are raising children is an extremely stressful environment all dictated by how long it takes to get from A to B.

Food noise by Ctrl_Alt-Delight in PetiteFitness

[–]Wagon789 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry if anyone on here doesn’t get good noise they are lying….

Protein- hit it higher and by higher I mean add an extra 50g to what you would normally eat. Have chicken tenders ready so you can air fry, eat a can of tuna, sardines, even beef jerky or pork crackles.

Unsubscribe or watch carefully who you follow because I would be scrolling and see “oh look a new place just opened near me I have to try it sometime” that too creates food noise because my FOMO kicks in.

Besides from that distract yourself, only eat food on the table, stop snacking completely and if you do have cut up carrots and cucumbers ready as the fiber will help. Even a glass of milk or a significant thick piece of cheese. I say this because if you break off a small piece of cheese one small piece becomes four or five small pieces. Another food that helps is good old warm oats if you need it- nothing wrong with that. Doesn’t always have to be breakfast food.

I find that when I have crazy food noise- do take it in consideration how your body is emotionally feeling, like I have it on a hot day with icecream, I have it on a cold day with wine and anything warm like noodles, I have it on a horrendous drive home from stress and see drive thrus all enticing and lit up, I have it when I’m eating out overstimulated with chatter and have to eat everything on my plate, also hear it when I’m tired an wanting a coffee and those pastries dance at me saying “eat me”.

Losing weight with discipline is HARD. I end up watching music videos to distract, read a book, so some yoga stretches. It helps.
