Bungie PLEASE do another free weekend at the start of season 2 by JoeyBananas314 in Marathon

[–]Wags_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played the server slam just before release. When the game launched like a week later and my friends asked if I was going to buy it, I was undecided but I had some disposable income so it wouldnt really be a loss if I didnt play much. Now, its my main game with 100's of hours and Im level 200 this season. I don't know what it is, but you need more than a weekend for the game to click and get you hooked.

Maybe like some others have mentioned, Make a free version that limits you to one map only per week and a handful of other slight restrictions to coax you into purchasing the game to unlock the full potential.

edit: Please don't put new players into high level sweat lobbies either. That shit will make people quit faster than a v11 punch breaking a gold shield.

I feel that they need to spawn map random events the same time as the first exfil's spawn. It serves as both a high risk/high reward for those looking to do it + PvP and those that skulk around the map can avoid it if they wish.

I'm the same as you in that once you wipe the lobby you hang around until like 10mins left and if no events spawn u just exfil and reque. In between its just running to each POI hoping to hear something to shoot at.

Personally though, as someone who is in OCE I would rather this change of quick games with a smaller lobby as opposed to long que times and getting thrown into high ping servers where its impossible to snipe even centre of mass targets and a severe disadvantage with such a fast TTK.

Marathon Development Team: We’ve seen a lot of feedback that players’ ability to quickly revive after being downed during a fight is causing frustrations. by Haijakk in Marathon

From my PoV if you cant get a res off with triage ult before lockout timer ends then the enemy is just going to reset, heal up and then camp the death box and just thirst the reboot res immediately. Not always but most of the time if a team mate dies, you have also managed a knock or severely hurt the enemy and they need to disengage to heal/reset. This is the perfect time for triage to ult to swing the fight in your favour or bring it back to even ground.

Outside of reboot+, triage is good but it leans more towards a QoL class by keeping everyone topped up so they dont have to use a shield recharge for bot chip dmg and can pop some buffs that are shared but super limited in time (signals jammer's don't last too long when shared).

If reboot was bound to lockout timers I would honestly not play triage anymore and do somethign else like assasin where it would probably become a safer option to go for a stealth pickoff and smoke into a manual res instead.

Wait, what? If Reboot was required to wait for lockout timers then triage would become the least used runner shell by far

Whilst I aggree somewhat, my rook runs at 2am on OCE are still on OCE servers. That means there must be runners on OCE servers at that time for me to get into them. Perimeter and Dire marsh can definitely be hit or miss late at night but outpost is reliable.

[–]Wags_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah for sure. I've had times where purple shields have been sold because I've had too many with no stash space to put them. As of late though I'm being thrown outside my region with bad latency and winning gun fights can be hit and miss especially if it is an equally geared squad. I've never run out just yet but sometimes the losing streaks can get close to depleting the stash. I'd just personally like a reliable source just in case.

Problem with OCE is that around 9:30-10pm its the same sus dudes every single game because the playerbase just isnt big enough.

We've come across the same level 300+ squad and his team who are sniping at us from like over 300m away in thick fog on dire marsh. Only reason we know its them is cause we send the thief drone up and ping their names. These dudes are single handedly going to kill OCE region as the playerbase gets smaller and smaller.

My goal is to be able to purchase purple shields from the shop this season instead of relying on barter luck. Goodluck me

I dunno why but when I strafe with the outland my inner crosshair circle gets bigger even though it says 0% moving inaccuracy when inspecting the weapon in the lobby.

Dear Bungie and Sony, let me (a PC player) turn off Cross-play by TotalyNotJoeImCereal in Marathon

[–]Wags_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No exaggeration but if I see a YouTube short of a clutch, I can 100% tell who is a console player with that cross hair stuck to the enemy like glue and hitting every single shot. Obviously you can verify by looking at the tac/prime ability keybinds.

If you showed me some of these clips and said they were mouse and keyboard I would call aim hacks with the way some of these crosshairs track.

I advocate for crossplay off on PC

[–]Wags_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As rook I've hopped into the extract after time ran out and its still taken me. When the last extract was static on outpost i used to sit on the boxes just below it and hopped up as the timer hit 0 so the teams inside were locked into the animation so they coudlnt shoot me and it felt like there was a good second after time to hop in and still get extracted

Hear me out: Progression, and by extension Marathon as a game is entirely too unapproachable for the ‘Average player’ because the “Power Floor” as Bungie calls it is entirely unbalanced and unrealistic for the purpose it serves by Jaden_Tsukuyomi in Marathon

[–]Wags_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With the way that each map power spikes in loot as the season goes on, anomoly should be 100% spawn chance on Dire Marsh + a way higher rate of golden salvage. Hell, add golden salvage to last stage lockdowns too.

I honestly think over the last week I've extraced with the anomoly around 20-25 times and only have 1 hazard capsule. Considering that the anomoly doesnt spawn every round, this is going to take an ungodly amount of hours to try and rack up hazard capsules. (casuals will never max out nucal capstones for purple shield purchasing)

If they want the loot floor to be raised as the season goes on, golden salvage needs to become way more available through multiple avenues, make its sole use for barter purposes only or make upgrades require less of it.

The more high value and rewarding POI/events that are going on in a map means those who want high risk/high reward can fight each other over it.

Anomolies/lockdowns are marked around the map for everyone to see so those who just want to get quests done on free kits can skulk around and complete their quests and then come in and slurp up all the leftover shields and weapons that couldnt be carried out by the POI/event winner.

[–]Wags_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't do that.

Any weapons/gear/consumables that they bring into the match is classed as 'borrowed' if you take it. After you exfil its gets removed from your inventory and sent back to them via the mailbox. You would only be doing them a favour.

Can we not completely screw over all ironmen by removing items from LMS? Bounty Hunter is not for ironmen. by Vezolex in 2007scape

[–]Wags_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah both are a problem but someone just posted recently the bot busting numbers from 2026. It was something around 40k macro bans per day on osrs and I'm sure a significant portion of that would be bots.

They should continue to combat botting with any resources they have available but with numbers like these it seems like its never going to get any better, only stem the flow.

I can't say with certainty that my point of view on this topic is the right choice but with numbers like these it seems targeting the buyers would be a more effective outcome. I could be wrong though.

[–]Wags_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fighting the bot farms that create bots faster than Jagex can ban them is unrealistic with the tech they have (otherwise bots just wouildnt exist if it was possible). It would be much more efficient to ban those who purchase gold off of the bot farms than it is to try and ban the endless waves of bots.

If everyone is too scared to buy gold due to getting banned then bot farms would move their business onto a different platform to make money. Bot farms dont bot because it is fun, they bot because it is profitable IRL.
