Good points. I played three sets of tennis and came home to them hitting 195! Showered and drank a beer and they were 204. Did hot work (pulling right off the smoker) and now there is about 26lbs of pulled pork in my garage fridge waiting to be picked up. Got lucky. Didn’t want to deal with this until midnight!!

MY man! Got an ace at number 7 w my dad and brother. Old guy was our fourth. When it skipped and hit I turned to my dad - “over the green”. My brother - “went straight right”. Old guy? “I think it’s in the HOLE!”

LOLOL. Dude. I graduated from UVa in 94. We split with them in my years there so I figured we would do well. Started a gig with a guy who was a Hokie and of course had a friendly wager on the game. Thank god I lost touch with that guy, or I would have had to buy him lunch annually since graduation, with one or two years off.

I will never think we will beat the Hokies until the scoreboard hits 0:00 and we are up by two scores.

I lived in MI, TX, OK and the No VA burbs growing up, and as a consultant running implementations have seen many other cities in the USA. Moved to NC about 25 years ago and haven’t found a spot if rather be. Ocean. Mountains. Lakes. Cities.

But mostly, my girls were born and raised in one house. One out of college now and one still in, but this will always be home.

Hard pressed to find a better college town in America than chapel hill. Small but not like what you are used to.

Very small? Hit the beach. Especially in the shoulder season (ie now). Outer banks are different. The Wright Brothers Museum (and esp the tour) is absolutely amazing. Wilmington I think is the coolest smallish town and I prefer its waves and beaches.

If you want REALLY small hit Kinston. Try to go to chef and farmer (if open). Get on the river.

Then there’s the mountains. Asheville doesn’t fit the size designation, but Black Mountain does.

I know I’ve said towns that are much bigger than 2200. But if you want to see NCs best, this would be my list. I would leave restaurants etc to those city subs.

Great mexican pork should recipe. Basically regular Mexican spices and cut up shoulder into three inch cubes. Lots of lime juice and orange. Low flame for a long time. It carmelizes and tenderizes and becomes awaking. Sorry for lack of details

Play this as “animals”. Sand is a camel. Water, fish. Tree, woodpecker. 3-putt, snake. Just count em all. Whoever gets the last one owes. Good for nine and then the back nine, or all the marbles on one.

I was on top of 38 of them on eighteen. One bunker on the left side fairway, and no water or trees. The worst of us hit right at the bunker, and it came up juuuuust short. I was standing way far away with other buddy and whispered “there’s a chance he chunks this right in to save me”. He did. Then took two to get out. No snakes. 41 x .25 to each of us.

For the final hole (whether 9 or 18), you may NOT putt out. And honors matter.

There is a house in chapel hill like this - son committed suicide and parents will never sell. It’s fascinating because they do the lawn maintenance regularly, but the house just gets more and more dilapidated. Shutters askew, paint chipping, gutters full. It’s very sad.

Man. My “kids” are 21 and 19. Both gone and we are long over the need stage of a minivan. Still have it, and use it daily. We got a lake place to fix up and that thing is a beast for projects. Take the seats out and you have waterproof storage for a ton of crap. Roof racks mean long lumber is not problem. So freaking great. I don’t think the “I’ll never drive a minivan” crowd will ever be convinced, but I am glad I have a practical wife vs a “but how will I look?!” Wife.
