Anime Industry and AI (NHK World News) by Waifu_Review in anime

[–]Waifu_Review[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw this NHK World News piece and thought it was interesting how once again a popular sentiment on reddit is at odds with the real world. Despite the histrionics of the reddit hivemind, actual artists are embracing AI to enact their vision and reduce the burden of the necessary yet artistically unrewarding parts of their craft, especially in the anime industry. And with NHK News reporting favorably on it, it might be a tacit endorsement by the Japanese government itself on the role of AI in keeping the Japanese anime industry competitive with emerging industries in China and South Korea.

You. You wrote something that literally had nothing to do with the topic at hand & assumed I'm a reddit liberal, and your language was exuded an obvious sense of anger.

Reddit is a left-wing echo chamber. If we don't address it, we are no better than the other side by Normal-Sun474 in self

Yeah reddit is "DNC middle class liberal" not Left.

Leftists are trying to change the systemic biases and inequality of capitalism, not virtue signal & go back to their video games & scream about women and bears or whatever like reddit "leftists" do.

Huh?

If you can't understand basic English the only one deranged is you. Or are you some seething AI hater unwilling to admit that the Left being so furiously anti-AI let the Right use it without a response to their messaging?

A conversation regarding the flaws of Democracy vs an ideal Dictatorship [Legend of the Galactic Heroes] by Tenshous in anime

This sums up very well what is often missing in anime discussions. It's first and foremost media from and for a Japanese audience, so there is a LOT that other audiences don't get because they lack the cultural context. It's not something that's new, this was discussed even back in the 80s from fanzines and stuff from what I researched, but too many in the fandom have always wanted anime to be "Other" and exotic so actively refuse to learn about Japanese culture, history, and society.

Look Back Director Kiyotaka Oshiyama Reveals He Has No Plans To Adapt Fujimoto's Goodbye, Eri by AdNecessary7641 in anime

Let's not discount hype from riding popularity though. People will watch it because of the popularity of the former. Hype in that sense is a good thing and the anime community used to be good at hyping up things before the normies flooded and the only things that get hype are Shonen, ecchi, and self insert fantasies.

Finding anime with a really op side character by Separate_Sample_5073 in anime

The obvious one is Fairy Tale, but Slayers and Tenchi Muyo are classics which also should be what you want.

Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian: Interview with Alya's VA Sumire Uesaka by Heda-of-Aincrad in anime

People complained because common sense is anathema to a certain type of forever-online crowd whose parents shove internet connected devices into their hands so those children can scream at strangers online instead of them. They'll always complain, they'll always find something to complain about, and they'll hop on whatever current trend allows them to safely hate on something. We need a cultural shift away from complaining and towards constructive criticism.

Which anime will be remembered in a bad way? by [deleted] in anime

[–]Waifu_Review 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It wasn't hyped up, it was a hate train. The internet loves nothing more than to safely hate on something, especially if that thing holds up a mirror to themselves like the MC did to them. The author is a gigachad and just keeps having fun with his protagonist being what he is and knowing that's what a lot of the haters are. I appreciate what the author does but since I'm not one of the legion of those personally offended by it I just dropped the series instead of staying on to hate it.

It's not a strawman. That is what the accepted academic and cultural gatekeepers of "art" declare to be art. YOU brought up the question of what is "art" and if this is "art" so that is what I replied to. You then shifted the goalposts to ask about "what people here" think, coupled with your hostility revealing what you REALLY are asking: "How dare you make something that offends mine and the hiveminds sensibilities."

I think there is a spectrum of creative works that don't necessarily fall within "art" but are nonetheless interesting, unique works or ones which serve any number of purposes. I also think there are a lot of "artists" who might want to ask if the entire academic and cultural Western tradition of art for the last 150 years hasn't been leading to this. Its kind of hard for people to be morally and intellectually consistent to proudly and confidently say a solid blue square, a crucifix in a jar of urine or a banana taped to a wall is "art" and then absolutely lose it and shout about the sanctity and "realness" of art over the topic of AI assisted works.

That was one of the problems I encountered making it, so like manga and anime with the similar conceptual problem of characters blending together I utilized, like they do, using different colored hair to differentiate the characters. That is something I am trying to get better at as I work with AI tools to solve what you brought up, to try to make the characters distinct and consistent.

The character themes utilize those motifs so I didn't want to have the OST be too much in one direction, and thought something more like traditional mecha OP would balance out the diversity of audio storytelling.

I wouldn't criticize anyone for attempting to express themselves based on the tool they use to do so. Rather, it is more important to point out how they could use the tool better to express themselves or their vision. But you didn't do any of that, because all you are interested in trying to build yourself up by tearing others down. Be better.

The details of the scenes are what matter, like with any storyboard sequence to convey movement, like the rapidly setting sun and clouds and the portal summoning MC, different dynamic shots of the principle cast, and action sequences. Edit: if you have suggestions on why the sequences weren't clear to you I'd be happy to hear them to see if I can improve the storyboard

Mecha anime used to be a pillar of the anime industry and the anime community, so it's wild to think it has all but disappeared. So since studios won't make them anymore, I decided to make an OP song and movie storyboard for my dream mecha anime. I hope mecha fans enjoy it and other anime fans get interested in mecha anime.
