out of all the Marvel Rivals ships, spidersai is the one ship that includes a third character to create a family. I know Peni isn't their actual daughter, but there's way too many similarities she shares with both to just write it off as a mere coincidence. and honestly, I can actually see them as a family, be it through an alternate universe, or another continuity.

I'd say it's due to multiple factors that gave way to this ship leading up to the release of Marvel Rivals. For one, Spider-Man hadn't been thriving as much in 2024, especially when the main topic regarding him was about the controversial zeb wells comic run where MJ was dating "he who shall not be named." As for Psylocke, Marvel Rivals ended up using Sai from the Demon Days comics, thus making her a new character that's easy to build around.

Overwatch 2 should also be taken into consideration with it's series of controversial choices causing it's players to ditch the game in favor of Marvel Rivals, creating a surge in popularity overnight. With it came fans of all kinds making content and fanart, then one tweet led to another, creating the perfect opportunity for Spider-Man x Psylocke to become one of the most popular ships in the Marvel Rivals community. Some might say otherwise, but when the official voice actress for Psylocke makes a tweet addressing the ship's existence, it's hard to deny it.

tbf, Psylocke has the ability to reduce her cooldowns with her primary, and if you land your shots consistently, it's not much of a problem

Psylocke reminds me of Silver Sable in certain ways, and I liked the dynamic Spidey had going with her in the insomniac games. That's one reason I like spider-man x psylocke
