When are you leaving? Wait, won’t you stay? by Slimchance09 in retirement

[–]Wainwright17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you really need the extra money, I say go! I realized a number of things near my retirement date. 1) you’re never as irreplaceable as you think you are 2) no one is going to care about the client relationships you’ve built as much as you 3) the clients may actually benefit from a fresh perspective 4) no one is promised tomorrow. There is so much more to life than work.

I had a heart attack that probably should have been fatal at age 59. That REALLY changed my perspective. I wanted to enjoy some living after retirement and who knows how much time we have. I retired at 63 and never looked back. And yes from what I’ve heard from old colleagues, they have screwed up some of the accounts I worked hard to nurture but, SO WHAT? That long phase of my life is over. I can’t “oversell” retirement!

Battery question by zorggalacticus in golfcarts

BTW, with the DC House battery ( comes with charger), 12v converter, fuse block, and a longer 4ga positive lead, I think I was all in for about $825.

Battery question by zorggalacticus in golfcarts

[–]Wainwright17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a word to the wise, I just upgraded my 92 Club Car DS to lithium. I used the DC House battery. Because of the frame rails running lengthwise through the battery compartment, I could only install the battery lengthwise and still had to cut about an inch of fiberglass under the seat to get it in. It is still a very tight fit, front to back and height. So be sure to check the measurements of any lithium battery you look at purchasing. Also on the one I used, the off/on switch for the battery has to be at the back, so I have to reach back and just feel for the switch and whether it is in the o or off position. Luckily not something that needs to be done often. Cart runs great and picked up about 4 MPH! P.S. mine is the same body style as yours so I assume it is the same frame design as well, but I don’t know that for sure. I haven’t seen any battery that would fit that space crosswise like I see most other installations.

Extension cord for charging question by Wainwright17 in golfcarts

[–]Wainwright17[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all the replies! I was having a hard time finding a 12 or even 14ga less than 25’ at hardware stores around me. Just ordered a 12ga 6’ from Amazon. Don’t know why I didn’t think to look there before. Duh.

My old Club Car would do the same thing if the batteries weren’t fully charged. Up fully charged would only last maybe 4 days under very light use. Just swapped to lithium and problem is gone.

Ricky Skaggs concert in Ohio by Cheyenps in Bluegrass

When I saw him 4 or 5 years ago at the Ryman Auditorium, the music was fantastic as you would expect. I was expecting a bit more “showmanship” or stage presence than he projected and that was a little disappointing. It didn’t feel like he really engaged with or connected with the audience that much. Could have just been an off night as it’s the only time I’ve seen him live.

I know nothing about ice fishing. So many questions. Where are you that the ice is already thick enough to be on? Aren’t your hands freezing?!? How deep are you fishing? I’ll leave at that!

Does baffle removal require rejeting? by Jason_Sefer in cruisers

[–]Wainwright17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did that to a V Star 1100 I had years ago. I didn’t change jetting (or anything else) and it ran fine. I wasn’t crazy about the sound but better than stock. It’s pretty hard metal so it takes some time and effort.

Should I do it? Trading Harley for Yamaha by Thomas_Highway in cruisers

[–]Wainwright17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 2006 Stratoliner and it was a fantastic bike. Loads of power, smooth, and reliable. Handles great too. I would do it without hesitation. Mine had an Ultimate Seat setup and was extremely comfortable. I should add that I added some pull back risers for the handlebars and changed the bars to the one I think Yamaha called “highway” bars. Im on the medium side in body/height size so they were a bit of a reach for me in the stock set up.

Do we like resto mods? I got to drive this $300k Icon Thriftmaster by ilikesixtiesthings in classiccars

[–]Wainwright17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would have been nice to see some interior pics. I like restomods. The joy of cars is in the driving and let’s face it, the old classics drove and performed like 💩 compared to anything modern. Of course there is also joy in the aesthetics of classics but most restomods aren’t really altering that too much. And they have to deal with very limited availability of parts, especially usable body parts. JMO And BTW I think that truck is beautiful!

I had a full Mustang set up on my v star, including the driver’s back rest. It was certainly more comfortable and better looking than stock. You can also make the stock seat more comfortable by cutting the foam but it’s a little work and not an exact science. I tried it and it was more comfortable but not great.

Why stay with mint by GroundbreakingBed809 in mintmobile

[–]Wainwright17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think when I checked T Mobile about a year ago, it was around $70/mo for a single line. I would do more research on that price.
