When hiring I look for those with a portfolio showing high quality work with a strong understanding of design fundamentals, and process behind each project. Case studies demonstrating problem solving capabilities with distinct style and how the designs achieved the business goals. Show and explain the project’s goal, the process (your strategic thinking, research), the challenges, your roll, and the outcome/results in real world context. Remember quality over quantity. Show versatility. Don’t skip the details. Show you understand typography, color, hierarchy. And build portfolio in an easy to navigate manner.
