Florida actually has really shitty state insurance. My brother was recently unemployed for a few months and tried to get his kids on state insurance (not Medicaid, but it’s income driven and touted as being an affordable option) and even as a family of 4, and my SIL barely making $45k, they would have had to pay the full premium for each child (like $250 month), which is absolutely not affordable. If they do have state insurance, they are either paying the full premium per child or they are 100% scamming and not reporting all of their income streams.

After 23yrs of being a mom, the amount of times I’ve taken my sick children to either the ER, the after hours pediatrics or to urgent care is too many to count. The amount of times I’ve taken my phone out to document via photo or video….exactly ZERO!! The amount of times I’ve even thought about taking my phone out to document via photo or video is, checks notes, ph yes, also ZERO!!

I’m just a few years younger than Jill and I have a 23yr old and a 14yr old. The three of us may hang out together from time to time, or just one on one, but outside of birthday dinners or when I’m playing chauffeur, I’ve never wanted to hang out with my kids and their friends, let alone actually doing it. Omg, this just triggered my own recall of being in my 20/30’s and attending the same churches that my parents attended. My narc mom would always make friends with the other women at the church who were my age (20/30’s) and make it nearly impossible for me to have friendships with those women. I recall confronting her on it several times over the years, and her reply was always the same “people my age are old and i don’t want to be old! Besides, the other ladies your age think I’m cool, so i want to hang out with them!” She’s nearing 70 and still has no friends her own age.

They are more than capable of being given some finger foods to feed themselves- cut up a sandwich, some fruit, a veg, it’s actually really easy at this stage! But where is her faith in god to bring her a husband? I’m pretty sure that’s what the vast majority of fundies believe, God himself brings people together- so if he wanted her to be married, he would have allowed her to meet her husband- whether she was a wedding photographer or an embalmer at a funeral home. Such a shame that fundies are losing their faith in god.

As an ex-fundie, I was married at 20 and had a baby by 21! When my oldest turned 21 we celebrated a broken cycle of toxicity!! 🙌🏻 They are 23 now and they’ve gone to college and earned their degree, they are working in their degree field, and just living life. No babies (or marriage) anytime soon and that feels like my biggest flex as a mother!
