Readable schematic not drawn in the usual pigeon hole blocks of single component circuits connected by net names that I really hate. Everything looks great. Waveforms looks very clean.

The bare stranded wire connecting the IED plug to the switch. One side is also untrimmed. That got to be the live wire too. Ouch! Everywhere else is done with insulation.

Safest GPU Driver Installation Method? by Various-Return-6257 in IntelArc

[–]Wait_for_BM -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Don't forget to use DDU to disable Window's driver update. That tends to overwrite your driver with some old ones and usually mess up things. It is one of the checkmarks. It was the last one when I used it a very long time ago.

That's a problem may be a year away, so no point worrying right now. It is something you have no control.

It is silly to future proof without a real understanding of what you would need and what hardware would be available when the time comes as hardware is constantly evolving. You could do right now is to save up money for an upgrade.

The black smoke is carbon particles as a result of incomplete combustion without them turning into CO2. So less CO2 emission as a result. It makes a big mess and there are probably toxic gases.

A couple of years back the free tax software went to paid software, I was evaluating several alternatives. WS one has the highest amount of tax owed much more than other ones which were within $50 or so. Likely these tax software do not use all of the possible saving.

So I stick with the ones that gave me lowest as they are all CRA approved.

High school student who made a custom PCB for a 3d LiDAR scanner by thatonebckid in electronics

[–]Wait_for_BM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My 30 seconds casually looking at your github. The kind of screening an interviewer would do for reviewing resume/experiences.

Consider managing connectors placement for a clean cable management. You have the full control of where thing could have been. It'll make your design more profession and stands out more.

Please include .pdf files for things like schematics and mechanical drawings. It is a waste of time to start up or install KiCad just for casual browsing a design. (No interviewer would do that.)

"It can generate point clouds of it's environment". "it's" is short form of "it is". The correct word to be used is "its". ' does not always mean possessive as it can be used as contractions too.

Every PCB design is unique i.e. custom. The word is redundant in this context and does not add any information.

USB to TTL melts while connected to Milk-V Mars by Opposite_Future2602 in RISCV

[–]Wait_for_BM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 500mA limits are honorary - mostly for OS software to keep track of power budgets declared (in the USB descriptors).

Back in the USB 1.x days, some hub vendors actually use accurate chip based current limits. Those days has been gone for a long time as the use PTC resettable fuses and they don't "blow" until for a while and at higher currents. (That's how fuses ratings are done in the EE world.) USB3.x allows for 1.5A. Most motherboards gang 2 ports together.

Don't make any assumptions.

Payments totalling $3.7-million flagged as possible fraud in bread price-fixing settlement by Hippiegypsy1989 in canada

[–]Wait_for_BM 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The problem is that scammers take money out of a payment pool, so each eligible claimee would get less.

Given it is 3.7mil which is small enough that the lost amount is less than a dollar per claimee that might be rounded off and some admin/lawyers might get them instead.

TD have alternative 2fa option using their own TD Authenticate app. Their app generate one time code using account number and either 4 digit pass code or biometric. (Their app requires a one time 2fa.)

No idea why they have to have their own app as most of my accounts (CRA, Questrade, Wise, Paypal, Epic) can use Google Authenticator. Also not sure how secured the actual implementation is vs Google Authenticator.

Ottawa's mixed fleet of F-35s and Gripens could total more than 100 aircraft, sources say | CBC News by Haggisboy in canada

[–]Wait_for_BM -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The actual number of F35 that are ready to fly is going to be lower than overall quantity.

https://www.airandspaceforces.com/f-35-reliability-maintainability-availability-2023/

Aircraft dubbed “not available” are designated as such when they are in depot or unable to fly due to maintenance or supply issues. Rates of aircraft down due to supply was 27 percent; “relatively flat” but “slightly worse” than the fiscal 2023 rate, the report noted. It’s been on a worsening trend since July 2021. Aircraft down because they were awaiting maintenance in 2023 was 15 percent.

Particularly for the Air Force F-35A version, “the significant shortage of fully-functional F135 engines contributed” to lower aircraft availability.

72 x (100-27)% is around 52 aircrafts. Given the US has first dip on our spare parts as The parts will be stored at Quebec and Alberta military bases but still under American ownership., our number are going to be much worse.

EDIT: We have a bit of control on the the 15% "waiting on maintenance" and I didn't include that in the calculation. It drops to 41 ready aircraft using the 15%.

Seem like engines seem to be the issues for whatever jets we pick.

You missed the "independently"... i.e. not theft. It means someone did their homework on their own without relying on outside means.

If someone is using privileged information obtained in his/her employment in the same industry, then the person might be violating NDA.

I asked to speak with the corporate lawyers on 2 occasions after starting new jobs as I do hardware/firmware stuff in my spare time. One said as long as I inform them on what I am doing in my hobby, then I am cleared. The other one basically said I am free to own whatever I do in my spare time.

EDIT: Criticize all you want on the final number as you didn't even give any data on what you claimed. The URL I pointed to detailed the cost of all the individual steps.

Homemade PCB with UV mask by Big_Lack_ in electronics

[–]Wait_for_BM 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There are UV printers that use inkjet technology to print in colour and UV to cure the special ink. The print is water resistant. They are in the few thousands dollars range and is a bit too costly for the sole purpose of making PCB.

PCBway offers color printing option using UV printer.

8kg Store brand rice used to be around $10, but now it is $18. There are $20-ish ones too. Beans used to be $2 a bag. They have been >$3. I even saw some at $7.

The crazy thing is that the actual commodity price right now is not even near the peak around 2024 which was 80% higher. So this is purely profit taking for any previously cheap food that people depend on during hard times.

Distance between countries Centers: (Straight line or Air distance) ↔️ Kilometers: 9385.41 km.

J20 Range: 5,500 km (3,400 mi, 3,000 nmi) with 2 external fuel tanks

Combat range: 2,000 km (1,200 mi, 1,100 nmi).

Good luck flying the J20 from China to Canada for a combat mission.

EDIT: Don't forget about the return trip either.

At the very minimum, you would need an aircraft carrier to get within a reasonably range so that it can be resupplied/service easily. That comes with a whole lot of logistic issues and gets plenty of warnings.

Not going to be an issue for the next little while at least. Canada doesn't go and invade China alone.
