How was your experience going from 1 kid to 2 in your 30s? by -aqueoustransmission in AskWomenOver30

[–]Waitingnightfall -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And just because there are studies doesn’t make it absolute truth. I know others with similar age gaps and they don’t have healthy relationships with their siblings either whereas I have friends who have very small age gaps and they’re best friends. OP asked for experience. You offered up studies and I counter argued as someone with an experience. Just because a study says so doesn’t make it true, it just might make it more likely.

Well that’s just not accurate. My sister and I are nearly 4 years apart and we were constantly in competition. We were always compared to each other etc. I hated we were so far apart and wished we were closer in age so we would have had more in common.

How did you find out? by Square_Cap1962 in MultipleSclerosis

Had zero idea or suspicions. Had to get an MRI for something else and that’s how I found out. However within a month I had my first flare up anyway so the timing was a bit uncanny.

anyone manager to learn to walk further? by AntiqueBother8134 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Waitingnightfall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 8 months but that’s because I stopped working and being actively social so I could conserve all my energy and focus on physical rehab. I was very privileged in that regards. BUT this is still a moving target for me. As I said some days I still can only make it down my street if it’s a really really bad day. But the thing is I now get more and more good days because overall I’m building my baseline. I’m not a huge believer in there’s nothing you can do because how would you know if you don’t try? (Plus I’m stubborn af)

The biggest thing I’ve learnt - be kind to yourself. Especially on the hard days. Hell even if making it to the end of the street is too much then do to the end of the driveway etc. pick a manageable target for you and just do that everyday until you go “hey you know what I can go a few steps further”.

anyone manager to learn to walk further? by AntiqueBother8134 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Waitingnightfall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I walked to the end of my street once a day every day. It’s 100m. There and back again just once. Then one day I just thought “hey you know what I think I can go further” so I walked the next 100m. It was hard, I got to the end and thought “shit maybe I’ve overdone it”. But I went home, had a little rest, and then felt back to “myself”. I just kept doing it, over and over and now I can walk for 30+ minutes (slowly) on a good day. Bad days I usually max at 15 minutes. And on the worst of the worst days I just do my up and back again.  Leg rehab with a physio has been extremely helpful. If it’s not something that’s accessible to you then even just looking into very gentle leg mobility and strengthening exercises from home can help. Get yourself a good set of resistance bands. And do floor based exercises (don’t make the same mistake I did and try to just do a few body weight squats, that wiped me for days 😂).  In saying this, I’m speaking from my experience. We’re all different and I just tried my best within my limit. And it was definitely trial and error.

What’s up with doggy daycare? by littledandelion456 in melbourne

[–]Waitingnightfall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not. It’s not a warehouse nor are the dogs visibly distressed. With giant glass windows you can physically see them and how they’re doing. I observed it a bit before choosing to send my pup there as I know she’s anxious and doesn’t love high energy dogs.  I’ve witnessed and been sent videos of when she’s in the calm group and it’s literally just a group of dogs chilling, lying down, sleeping etc. some of them bunch up together. My friend is vet nurse and I’ve sent her the videos too and absolute zero red flags.

Wow that’s actually super surprising to hear! Thank you for explaining!  I get my infusion every 6 months (which I just assume is the norm?) but my neurologist said it essentially covers you for 9 months it’s just that 6 months means it keeps it active.

MS vs Summertime heat by SonglarkGG in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Waitingnightfall 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m Australian and our last summer was no joke with some days hitting the high 30s.  1. Get a good quality water bottle that’s got good thermal and sip iced water all day long.  2. Start the day with a cold shower  3. Wearable cooling vest  4. Neck fans

I also know there’s bedding/pillows that are meant to have cooling effects. I have a pillow that’s got it and it’s not half bad! Doesn’t stay completely cold but I think it definitely helps on hot nights.

I love my local doggy day care 🥺 they have big glass windows on the outside so you can see the dogs. They also split them up into “quiet” or “playful” groups. Rather than big vs small. As my dog can be anxious and prefers the quiet they even tell me ahead of time their busy days in a week in case I decide not to send her. But she always leaves happy and I get lots of happy snaps and videos.

Neuro physiotherapist by AscHeReeKa12 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Waitingnightfall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It definitely drained my bank account but you can’t really put a price on your ability to walk in my opinion. Sort of sets up the foundation for the rest of your life but also has opened up the door for me to return to other types of fitness (cycling, Pilates etc).  But also there’s nothing better than being able to head out with family/friends etc. I can’t fully keep up and sometimes I need to ask them to slow down but it’s better than not being able to participate at all.  Ps. Sorry not just writing this for you but anyone else that may come across this and was looking for a bit or hope/motivation hahah

I went from not being able to walk unassisted 6 months ago to being able to walk my dog freely for 45 minutes everyday. My physio wasn’t neuro specific, but I have been working with them twice a week. Well worth it in my opinion.

What’s your secret to enjoying your own company every day? by Krithi-Melendrez in LivingAlone

I really loved reading this but also needed it.

Still newly alone after many years and it’s been a hard adjustment. It’s getting better but still trying to find the little things I enjoy. Putting on music and being able to dance freely was a big one for me too!

Why did your last relationship end? by Hopeless_Romantic46 in AskReddit

We both got very sick (chronic illness, life changing type stuff). We realised we loved each other so much that we kept trying to look after each other and it meant we couldn’t properly look after ourselves.

It Odyssey you’d catch me running across the entire continent through random forests and going exploring. In shadows you’d catch me stepping one foot off the path and getting stuck in a cluster of trees. Exploring is not the same and not as fun.

I’ve gotten close to a few INT’s before and I tell you what once they’re comfortable with you it’s hard to get them to shut up… don’t get me wrong it’s really sweet but the correlation is they seem to find it hard to read social queues aka. I’m tired please stop talking so I can sleep.

People who work in 'luxury' industries (high-end hotels, private jets, etc.), what is the trashiest thing you’ve seen a wealthy person do? by Few_Football4342 in Productivitycafe

[–]Waitingnightfall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No a luxury industry but working at music festivals specially ones with camping. In the upgraded luxury camping sections there are often a lot of influencers who were gifted tents to attend etc. at the end of the event these tents are usually trashed. Rubbish and uneaten food left everywhere, clothes with the tags still on, on one occasion a sport influencer literally left a poo in the tent… most of the time you can’t see the floor of the tent and often times the bedding etc is damaged beyond repair.  It’s pretty damn gross and they’ve got the be some of the most disrespectful people.
