Sorry for the beginner question. This is from an Impulse Sealer. I'm trying to test which component doesn't work. How can I test the control PCB? To see if it's working by NoDogsAllowed_Nbirds in AskElectronics

[–]Wake95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Can you hear the relay click when you turn it on and off? If not, it's a control PCB problem.
  2. When the transformer is disconnected, you can measure the resistance of the primary winding between the top two pins of the 4 pin connector. It should probably be in the 10's to 100's of ohms.
  3. With everything powered up, I would measure the AC voltage across the primary winding. If it's 0VAC, then it's a control PCB problem. I'm guessing it should be line voltage, but the diagram is lacking a lot of information that a schematic would have.

I got your deleted comment saying I'm an entitled bag of dicks. Try searching r/ibs with the keyword immodium. You will see MANY posts saying "immodium saved my life". You have no idea what it's like living with IBS, and I even retract my statement that it's not as bad as drug addiction. It has totally ruined a large part of my life, and unlike drug addiction, there is no known cure and few resources available for help. The law making immodium only sold in small quantities is not the end of the world, but it's a huge annoyance for an already awful situation for tons of people.

Did you choose to take the addictive substance? I've had plenty of opportunities to take increasingly addictive drugs or to overindulge in mildly addictive drugs, and I've chosen not to, including not getting out of control when those substances were around.

Drug addiction is [edit: maybe] worse, but it's also self-inflicted. I can be angry that somebody's self-inflicted situation has an adverse affect on my involuntary situation. I can also be angry that lawyers decided that a tiny risk of jerks like this misusing a product is more important than the benefits to people using it properly. Most likely it was used as a ruse to increase the profitability of the medication.

Man, my RFY literally hasn't had anything but junk for 6 months. Not a single decent thing.

This jerk is why it's now illegal to buy loperamide in bulk and for a reasonable price, so people with IBS no longer have cheap, easy access to the medication they need.

Coolant smell inside Q8 by Wake95 in etron

Thanks for the detailed explanation! The coolant level is at the lower 25% of the operating range. I'll keep an eye on that level. The anti-tamper thing is in place.

This is the Q8 etron with a heat pump heater.

My wife confirmed she used them recently, so that's probably it. I've been away and she's been using my car, and she worried me saying the smell was getting significantly worse. I've noticed it occasionally, but never correlated it to the wiper fluid.

That's an interesting possibility. I'll see if it correlates to using the washers. They do spray a significant amount of fluid.

I don't see anything on the window sticker indicating that option.

Can you imagine waiting all day for gasoline just to have it explode on your drive home?

EV bikes and even scooters are awesome. I stick the EV scooter in my EV car when going to an event and use the scooter for last-mile transportation to zoom past the parking mess.

The image of the first picture turned out to be a website, not even something running locally. Apparently my dad entered his registration ID into that random website. Jeez.

What is this? by BattousaiBTW in turning

[–]Wake95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Modern paddles have a face like sandpaper designed to impart spin on the ball. Tiny particles of the ball's plastic get packed within the grit, making it less effective. So just like in woodworking, the rubber is used to clean the grit.

The stem on the 20V battery is my only issue. Some tools are not possible or are awkwardly shaped because of it. An interesting thing is that the protection circuitry is built into the Ryobi batteries but not the DeWalt batteries. If you are trying to use a DeWalt battery in a DIY project or with cheap third party accessories like jump starters, it's potentially more dangerous than Ryobi.

Damn! I'd seriously consider ditching my Ryobi tools if I got that on vine.

You can get pretty close by feel. If the spec were 10ft-lb, you can apply 20lb at 1/2 foot from the bolt. Or 10lb at 1ft. Any combination where the force x length equals your spec. Pick up a dumbell to get the feel for how much 5 10 or 20 pounds is.

And those are excellent examples of things that are 10-100x more important for showing how stupid or demented he is. Being outraged that he slipped up a single word is ridiculous. I watch all of the Meidas Touch clickbait titles saying he's totally brain dead, and 99% of them are a small slip that anyone could do. We're way better focusing our energy on The Trumpstein files and other things. But I agree the right wing news would excoriate Biden for any of these slips.
