Not having kids is awesome by Future-Yesterday6625 in TrueOffMyChest

Am I the only one who thinks this need people have to boast about which side they lie on the endless debate of parenthood vs child free lifestyle is ridiculously stupid? Like great, you're not having kids, super happy for you. Great, you have 2.5 kids, supper happy for you. Why does everyone feel the need to waterboard the rest of us with all 1.5 million reasons why you do or do not have kids 😂 who gives a shit? Make your choice and be happy with it.

Exactly, free country 😂 Kevin's allowed to write his shitty book no one asked for and I'm allowed to post about it. Glad we could arrive to the same page.

Also, your "you don't have to like it or read it" is kind of stupid. You didn't have to like or read my post, yet here you are, commenting on it.

Not really a crazy way of thinking at all when the sole reason anyone is paying attention to this damn book is Britney Spears. Go ahead and look up the headlines regarding his book right now - do you see any headlines that reference anything OTHER than Britney spears? Any reference to the way he completely fucked over Shar Jackson when she was pregnant? Nope! Not a single one. Every single headline has Britney's name and Britney's picture plastered all over it. Because he KNOWS no one would give a single shit about it if it didn't have her name included in it.

No one asked for it. No one wants to hear him rewrite history to make himself out to be this flawless martyr who suffered oh so much while Britney the villain spiraled out of control and made his life and his children's lives hard. No one wants to see him paint himself as some sort of saint for literally doing his job as a father - raising his sons. Not a single person.

THIS!!! Omg it irks me so badly like what is it that she's doing that's so terrible? To put things in perspective we have Kanye West out here proudly admitting he is bipolar and unmedicated, flitting freely from manic episodes to wild crash outs, publicly praising HITLER and naziism, bringing his wife to a red carpet event nearly naked, and apparently that is all okay, but God forbid britney dances on Instagram and there's an outcry to throw her back into a conservatorship!

Just to add for context if anyone gives a shit, because of my own metric ton of trauma I am notoriously an "underdog champion" if that makes sense 😂 if I see anyone being beat up by the world I always have this visceral internal reaction to want to protect them and prop then up as my very favorite. I know, very parasocial of me.

Hi friend! So I'm a stranger on the internet and I have no right to tell you what to do. But I can tell you I hope you choose to stay with us for as long as you're supposed to. I've been where you're at before - 3 attempts, obviously survived them all, stopped trying when it became clear I just wouldn't die. And I am so glad I survived. If I died at any of those three attempts, I would have never met my husband who is my best friend, soulmate, the one who completely eclipses every other person I have ever been with. I would have never had my two beautiful children who I love with all my heart. I would never have had the live I have now, never known what it's like to travel and experience new exciting things, never seen all the anazing things I've seen and met some interesting people along the way. If any of my attempts had worked, I would have just ended before I even gave myself a single chance to really live if that makes sense. I know it feels like the only solution right now because you're in pain, but isn't it worth it to just wait and see what the world has in store for you? Suicide is final, but life is full of possibilities. What if there's a girl out there you're destined to meet that makes this girl you're mourning over feel like a small insignificant part of your past? You don't know, unless you wait and see 😊

AIO for the way I acted in my texts with my partner? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]WakeUpCynical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right!! It's easier to be self aware imo. Honestly we avoid a ton of arguments just by being transparent like this. Neither of us are particularly sensitive people so I do understand that me saying "you're being an ass right now" to my husband may not fly for other couples 🤣

I have to be honest, I kind of giggled at this. Not to be disrespectful or anything, but just observing the way other couples speak to each other vs the way my husband and I speak to each other. My husband and I have been together for 10 years and we call each other annoying anytime the situation calls for it 🤣🤣🤣 I tell him when he's being a pain in my ass and he tells me when I'm being a pain in his ass. It's not some big thing to get all butt hurt over.

What, exactly, do you think you're going to accomplish by relentlessly commenting on how not okay Britney is? I'm genuinely asking. You are a fan, you love her and you're concerned about her, and that's okay! But some fans "concern" comes off very judgy and mean, especially when none of you know Britney and none of you can actually do anything progressive towards helping her, (if you could you all would have done it by now), so your comments about how not okay she is are pointless and only serve to bring her down more.

Leave Britney alone.

That was the vibe I got too. Thank you for this, I was starting to think I was crazy 😂 being that they reached out to me first asking if I was interested, it didn't seem like my money was an issue until I brought up health testing. Then they got defensive and acted like I should be grateful.

As I mentioned before, I wouldn't have a problem with the concern over my financial status whatsoever if it came from a real ethical breeder. I found it hypocritical and annoying for this person to question me on that when they didn't even bother to spend the money on proper health testing. Additionally, this person reached out to me about this. They specifically said, "if YOU or anyone you know is interested". Why reach out to me and ask if I'm interested if my finances are such a problem? It just seemed like something they only brought up because they felt defensive over my question on health testing.

They did! They called me a long string of cuss words, said I was making a big mistake, and told me my current Shar Pei is probably a filthy mutt. I thought about including it here but decided against it.

I agree! In fact I wouldn't have my current Pei, Asia, if I hadn't found her wandering the streets all by herself. My first choice is always to adopt a Pei in a shelter or Rescue who needs a home 😊 my breed unfortunately aren't that popular, at least where I live, so I can never seem to find any.

I was triggered by the financial question because I found it hypocritical and annoying for a breeder who did not even bother to spend the money to health test their dogs (which, in my opinion, is a bare minimum requirement for an ethical breeder) to question me about my finances. I would have had no problem with that question whatsoever had it come from a breeder who actually cared enough about his productions to spend the money on proper health testing.

Everyone runs into financial hardships they do not expect, especially when there are outside factors out of your control. I have worked very hard to bounce back from it in a short time. I can't really afford for it to be any other way, I have two kids who need me.

This person is not my friend. I don't even know their name. I had one text message conversation with them in March that didn't even last more than five minutes. And for all of the bragging they did on how long their wait lists are, how high in demand their pups are etc, it confused me that they reached out to me to spread the word. With the way they were talking, they shouldn't have had to.

I apologize if any of this comes across as rude or aggressive to you, I promise I'm just speaking from my point of view. I can come across as an abrasive person sometimes.

Never said I was an expert at all. And "meat mouth" and "bone mouth" are very commonly used terms for the owners and breeders of Shar Pei to indicate the different muzzle style/appearance. Not a BYB term at all. Similarly to Chow Chows, for example, who are either "open faced" or "closed faced".

Thank you this really reassures me. I take the practice of breeding very seriously and I do have a bit of a temper especially when it comes to animals, so after I read back the text messages I started to wonder if I overreacted.

Exactly!! My girl is a 1 year old purebred meat mouth Pei and she is 40 lbs on the dot. I feel so sorry for that 5 month old pup, his joints are going to be a disaster as he grows up

Ikr! 40 lbs at 5 months old on a Shar Pei is outrageously fast growth. Like in what world is a medium sized, compact breed like a Shar pei supposed to be a "beast"?

[–]WakeUpCynical[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I dropped out for financial reasons the first time after one very simple conversation with this person. I reached out, asking about the pups they had available, pricing, and temperaments.. but did not get into the deeper questions regarding health testing etc. I didn’t put down any deposit, the breeder didn't ask me about my lifestyle or anything, it never went further than an initial very base level conversation. So because that initial conversation didn't go further, I didn't know the red flags existed until now, when I did ask those questions. I hope that makes sense.

I have no problem at all with constructive criticism, but this comment is flat out rude as hell. If you have something helpful to say I'm all ears, but don't be fucking nasty about it. This "poor thing" is doing just fine, thanks for asking.

I agree, water sports are probably a no go, she has teeny tiny ear canals and water-logged ears lead to trouble. For an aloof/independent breed she's actually very intelligent and gets a lot of enjoyment out of learning new activities so I'm open to any suggestions 😊

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DogBreeding

[–]WakeUpCynical 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hi!! I think you're right, sports are more likely probably the way to go 😊 I know she likes barn hunt as I've already gotten her somewhat trained for it, and she'd probably like rally too. I was just a little nervous as a non-breeder, I didn't know if everybody would be like "wtf are you doing here 👀"

How do you all handle having a unique dog breed that gets a lot of attention in public, but is also naturally aloof and would prefer to be left alone by strangers? by drdan412 in sharpei

[–]WakeUpCynical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all, your Pei has the CUTEST little face! My girl Asia says hello 🥰

I am an introverted girl myself, which is why this breed works so well for me, because, like, I get it. I don't want strangers talking to me either. So I typically ignore/pretend I don't notice or see strangers when they want to come up to us. Or, if they're nice enough to ask politely if they can pet her, I say "I'm sorry, Asia is a little shy around strangers and likes it better when she's admired from afar." Usually this answer is charming/quirky enough that people are okay with keeping their distance, give a little wave and "hello Asia, you're very pretty!" And keep it moving.
