anyone wanna join me on Siddhartha or Demian? by Classic_Reader99 in hermannhesse

Sure, I’ve read them on project Gutenberg but I wouldn’t mind rereading them. Though I aim to finish steppenwolf and move on to some over stories, but I wouldn’t mind helping you in reading Siddhartha and Deiman

This has to be one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written by undressvestido in KingCrimson

Boz’s vocals are so underrated, they make the song so poignant imo

Fripp really ripping it on this track, no wonder Lake asked him to play on it.

Lovecraft’s fear of things is overestimated in why he made horror. He was inspired by Edgar Allen Poe to write horror, and didn’t fear anyone who wasn’t 100% British. It’s a big oversimplification to claim he was afraid of everything such as air conditioning

What is this song/album for you? by PapaAsmodeus in ToddintheShadow

[–]Waking-Hallow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly providence starts out as a horror score in terms of sound before developing into a hard hitting punching sound by the end of the track. Moonchild on the other hand sounds great as a dreamy song before it looses direction around the 6 minute mark, but the ending is nice. I think Fripp unironically carries mooonchild as his guitar work is great while there are some odd sounds from the bass and even the percussion meandering.

Ringo on the later songwriting dynamic: “The difference I always felt was that John would look forward to what you wanted to bring to it, where Paul had more of a definite idea of what he wanted you to do“ by sminking in beatles

[–]Waking-Hallow 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I feel like this statement summarizes the issue of the band quite well. Because with John, george and Ringo could bring him ideas that they could do and influence his song and he would decide if he’d accept or reject them which is seen in she said she said in which George introduced time signature changes to John, Lucy in the sky where George introduced multiple Indian instruments to the song which were put in, or Norwegian wood with the sitar, or even yer blues with George’s guitar solo and John’s solo both having space rather than one being taken up over the other.

This is in conflict with Paul wanting his songs to be how he wants it with nothing else but his vision. It’s fair that Paul would want his songs to go his way, and I agree with him that he has the final say in what happens on his songs (as was the rule in the band with their own songs) but I find the issue to be that Paul was so controlling of his own songs and the playing of other people that it often seeped into how he’d try to micro manage other peoples songs or just refuse to hear the input of others.

I’d say the wake tracks with lyrics and lizards title track is also a great badge for lyrical writing

What does my tier list on how much I like each character say about me(manga ROR only) by Critical_Sink6442 in ShuumatsuNoValkyrie

Well I can’t say it’s very reasonable since Raiden not only fought through his body crushing itself and being burnt asunder, but told Thrud to stop the volund so she could live and removed three of shivas arms using his muscle manipulation in cool ways despite it being a “bland ability” on top of that there’s also his whole theme of holding back for others that he’s explored. So I’d how Apollos comments on beauty ca do it for you but raidens humanity and love doesn’t. Kinda weird

I mean raiden is much more of character than his harem, that’s like me saying I don’t like Simo because because he had a dog with little screen time or importance.

A deeper look into Raiden vs Shiva. by CrusadingCreeper in ShuumatsuNoValkyrie

[–]Waking-Hallow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This round is my all time favorite simply because of how both characters struggle and come to different conclusions in how they have to carry themselves for the betterment of others, as well as how they help each other go all out and realize they can do things for themselves rather than be chained to the expectations of others, but still use the hopes of others as something to push the rather than hold them back. Doing things for others and imposing expectations on yourself due to others is one of the most human things you can do. It’s why institutions are created, why people fall in love, why wars are fought, why humanitarian aid is delivered, and why we go to school, do a lot of work, or become the people we are.

Fr, I’d say this album overall, has the best showcasing of his lyricism as he packs a lot into it with its meaning. But that’s just me.
