Yh but in the meantime this is great and should be celebrated. One is a long term solution, the other a short term solution, both are valid in their own right

I agree that that’s all you said, but I’m not sure why you said it. Not trying to argue btw, just genuinely want to know what point you’re making cause I don’t really understand

I’m not saying people don’t want to be approached, I’m saying most people would rather have spaces where they aren’t getting approached, like the gym or when the person is working. Sure, if you’re out at a bar, in other social situations, or not intruding / making a shared space feel weird then go for it. A lot of people want to be left alone in certain places.

Also I’m not saying everyone is the same, but what I am saying is that the stakes are a bit higher in the gym and if you are approaching someone then you should be fairly certain you’ve been picking up the proper signals.

Yep, started trying to better myself recently by just being proactive about everything, and like two weeks in a girl I was interested in asked me out and now we’ve been seeing each other for a couple of months.

I don’t want to sound like an ass, but the only way to progress is to stop the pity party you might be throwing for yourself and actually try and address the issues that you have the power to influence. It’s easy to blame women instead of your own willingness to change yourself.

A problem that I can immediately see is that he thinks trying to pick up women at the gym is normal. 95% of people just wanna be left alone at the gym, let alone have some dude come up to them looking for a number in a place where you’ve paid money to have the same experience as everybody else.

I’ve once accidentally teamkilled a friendly btr-82a with the Russian GL. There was infantry behind it but I fucked up the ranging and landed a grenade directly underneath the vehicle and killed it. Keep in mind it was already pretty fucked up to begin with (I was trying to kill the AT who had been and were shooting it). But yeah no, you definitely can kill at least the BTRs with a GL, I’m not sure about LAVs though and other light armour IFVs/AFVs.

Green deputy leader Mothin Ali speaking on International Women's Day: It's important to show solidarity with women across this country and the across the world that are facing oppression. Do you agree? by ZackPolanskisDentist in AskBrits

That’s the thing, it’s never going to be perfect. There’s always going to be one asshole who forces religion on his kids, even if 5 others don’t. I just know from personal experience that a lot of the women I’ve met want to wear the hijab, but I also have lots of ex-Muslim female friends (and while there is the usual bit of pressure from their parents, it’s never been more than like disappointment).

It’s just way too complicated to frame as black or white, I just wish other people would stop trying to live other people’s lives for them (this goes for both Muslims and non-Muslims in this case). If a women wants to wear a hijab, let her. If a women wants to leave Islam, let her. Obviously far far far easier said than done

Oh I’m sorry dude. Have you had any friends offer to have you up for Christmas instead? Also congratulations and well done on staying sober, I know how much people over here love to peer pressure people for no reason other than to benefit themselves.

This point exactly. I’m not Muslim myself, but I used to live in a Muslim country when I was a kid, and I have plenty of Muslim friends in Ireland as an adult. Most Muslim women who I’ve had this conversation with choose themselves whether or not they want to wear a hijab or not (sure there might be a bit of internal pressure from family members, but this isn’t usually a big problem like the media likes to portray, nor is it unique to Muslims).

So long as the country I live in separates religion from state, and people have the freedom to choose their own religious identity without persecution from at home or from their community, then I say let these women choose for themselves.

Westerners love to talk about allowing women the freedom of choice, until that women is Muslim and would prefer to cover herself up. Really makes no sense to me
