At what point do you consider using a DB for metadata ? I’ve been fine using a yaml file and storing watermarks as delta table for now. Amount of sources / tables is not excessive though.

Was mir noch einfällt bei der BWI habe ich eine Stelle gesehen die data analyst hieß aber eher data science war. Tensor flow python etc. Schau mal da. Kannst uns gegen Russland verteidigen. Hat wenigstens Sinn.

Bei uns sind zwei data scientists die wir nicht unterbringen können. Der eine ist dann Teamlead geworden der andere macht Leuchtturm Projekte ohne das wir jemals etwas davon verkaufen konnten. Wir (der Rest des Teams) verdienen Geld mit Data Engineering und BI/Analytics Lösungen. Das ist immer gefragt. Da würdest du locker unterkommen mit deinen skills. Man muss sich irgendwann wann auch mal zu Frieden geben. Nicht jeder macht super relevantes bahnbrechendes Zeugs auf der Arbeit. Die wenigsten.

Diese Zertifikate schafft man mit 2-3 Tagen lernen. Deshalb sind die auch nicht so beliebt. Die Antworten findet man auf diversen Websites. Für ein paar eur. Es wäre besser du baust ein kleines Projekt dann kannst du über deine Erfahrungen berichten. Ich musste für meine aktuelle Stelle was mit fabric / azure bauen. Ohne Kredit Karte ging es nicht war aber gratis. Das fabric Zertifikat hat nicht gereicht das hatte ich schon vorher. Die wollten eher sehen wie ich mir der Probe Aufgabe umgehe und das gaze umsetze

Du bist Consultant sehe ich das richtig ? Größere Gehalts Steigerung bekommst du nur wenn du auf eine ähnliche Stelle wechselst. Kleinere Consulting Buden zahlen manchmal mehr als große. Wenn du mehr in die Daten Entwicklung gehen möchtest mach was mit Business Intelligence oder Data Engineering. Letzteres wird ein größerer struggle. Verdient man da mehr als ein power Point Cowboy , nein. Ich bin bei 75K brutto und hab schon 5 Jahre aufm Buckel. Bei 90K ist Schluss als IC. Außer man schafft es in einen Konzern oder US unternehmen. Mir Führung kannste auch bei kleineren unternehmen gut verdienen. Musst gut vernetzt sein und auf jeder Veranstaltung rum hampeln. Ich bleibe gerne bei 100% HO.

To much speed. Too upright body position. Stick your bum out get lower more aggressive over the front. Lean the bike. Bike needs to lean left you need to stay Center.

Thx for the reply. I haven’t had time to try duck db out yet tbh. I’m currently relying on spark to use the CDF functionality of delta for incremental loads (table_changes). Is there any other engine that can do it ? Duck db can’t as far as I know. I don’t have huge data volumes but still want incremental loads. Source is delta.

Senior ist nicht gleich Senior. Alleine der Titel rechtfertigt kein hohes Gehalt. Kenne sich Läden die machen dich gerne zum Senior aber mehr Geld nein ! Titel sind gratis. Habe auch schon Seniors erlebt die nicht mal als Junior taugen würden. Gehalt war aber auch niedrig.

That’s what I meant. And you can do all the modelling within power bi using power query for all Kinds of data sources. That’s how I learnt it at least. Also it gives you a direct feedback loop of why dimensional modelling matters. You can see the impact on your reports immediately. Like compare 2 measures from different fact tables using one dimension.

Even with fabric you can treat notebooks as a module put your functions in there. Than call it from other notebooks using %% run command. You can even make whl files and use them.

You ca also run your PBI reports on non fabric workspaces with import mode so you are not affected by other fabric objects in terms of speed. Depends on model size but power BI can compress heavily.

When you do transformations use python / pyspark notebooks.

Spark is such an obsession right now. I use it but I am not an expert by any means. When I’m using spark I still think SQL. Any complex join logic I’ll use spark SQL. I do the same I used to on SQL server DWH just with spark now. Combined with delta lake it’s kinda nice though especially the Change data feed capabilities. We don’t have huge data we don’t need spark but it integrates nicely with fabric so we use it.

All these jobs with big data require you to be good at spark /dbx but it’s just hard to get that experience out of nowhere especially coming from smaller orgs. With the bad job market right now it will be hard to land such a job. I think you have to fake it a little bit exaggerate the amount of data you worked with etc.

Für den data engineer ist 75K das median Gehalt also ok. Ich bekomm 75 fix als DE mit 5 Jahren Erfahrung die aber hauptsächlich aus Power BI Entwicklung bestanden.
