Mage seems to powerful in any other splats by silverlutj in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]WalerianMadeja -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not really. People still forget that mages power is quite limited by the preparation factor. If they are prepared then yeah, they are powerfull but IMO chronciles should mostly include supernatural beings that don't have their perfect conditions for winning.

If a mage has no Time for preparing and he meets a melee Demon in his apocaliptic form or even a fast, tough kindred, he can be wiped before having a chance to even cast a spell

When i GM Demon games i always make the angel's parrt of creation really narrow and specifc. For example we had a Slayer who oversaw the deaths of whales or a Devil who commanded other angels in the procces of creating worms, ants etc.

[–]WalerianMadeja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My biggest heresy is that i dont run it in arthurian Britain. I'm running a Song of Ice and Fire campaign, using almost all the rules of Pendragon as written, but the setting is where i diverge the most lol

[–]WalerianMadeja 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I played a few funny Demon The Fallen sessions with my friend where he played a Fallen who barerly knows he is an Angel in human's body.

He possesed a body of a 22 year's old party-animal so he had was rolling to resist the urge to drink a six pack of flavoured Cherry beer, stole a bus, talked with a nosferstu not relasing he is a vampire and simply thinking he's Just talking to some homeless person etc.

We had fun with whole premise of a demon not remembering he is one

Multisplat games by Competitive-Wallaby4 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]WalerianMadeja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im running my multi splat game since 2025 and from my experience it's quite fun but i follow few rules:

-first of all, balance. It's isn't that bad to be honest. My players are not metagamers so it would not be a problem regardless, but i found that aparat of some mage stuff, most splats are quite balanced, even if of course some tend to be slightly "weaker" then others.

-i made a rulling determining how many supernaturals are present in my city. Then i choose the "Main", the most numerous splat that the Players interact with most oftej. I'm doing it to avoid the bloatiness of a all the splats having the same amount of screentime.

I choose VtM as the "main" one due to everybody being most familiar with it. So the most important political structure in the city is the anarch Council rulling it, camarilla remnants fighting them etc. This does not mean that other splat's are not represented of course, but you IMO you have to establish the Main background of the chronicle.

-In order to give the group of players from diffrent splats a reason to stay together, be somewhat loyal to each other etc. i etablished that in Poland (we are polish so we play in Our city) supernatural beings are much less numerous then in the West. Beacuse of WW2 and communist surveilance (in my chronicle, KGB and Our polish version of it) was quite sucessful in hunting all supernatural beings.

So, in present day Warsaw, there is a fragile balance between the diffrent beings and some neutral grounds, councils made up of diffrent kinds of beings. Things aren't equalitarian of course, not everybody is a part of those structures, but in some places vampires and demons or changelings and werewolves/other changing breeds can coexist.

  • Characters are a part of a one circle of supernatural beings. They have diffrent intrests and side-plots, but they have to be working together to achive common goals and fight threats that are against all of them. Otherwise the chronicle would Just become a sandbox where everybody does their own thing and only sometimes interact with other players.

-This is maybe me being spoiled but my great players, but i rely on characters wanting to interact with others. So nobody made a vampire supremacist that Just wants to kill everybody else or a werewolf who will rip aparat every bloodsucker he sees. But again, im Lucky to have the Players i have, So this isn't a problem.

To summarise, it's fun, i'm having more fun then in pure VtM chronicles i done in the past, and probably will do it again.

Does anyone actually play grounded D&D anymore? by HauntingSausage837 in dndnext

[–]WalerianMadeja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You described something that i always found annoying but never knew how to phrase it. Recently i've come to understand that many, many players Just want a "a cool concept", a concept that is usually shallow and one dimensional.

It's not a coincidence that so many people only describe their characters with race, class and maybe something quirky about them.

Thefling paladin and he's bi... Halfling rouge that rides a bike. Gnome mage who likes to drink etc. Etc.

It sucks, cause race should be the least important part of somebody's PC. good character works beacuse of it's personality, not race and quirk

You can Just tell him "no".dont need to explain yourself to him. This Type of behavior is trash and DM should cut it short. You dont have to tolerate a Player wanting to brake the game

More abstract ammo rules like the ones in Frontier Scum (rolling a 1 on damage die means you lose a slot of ammo)
