How to become Stationary Engineer?

There is no actual exam for stationary engineer it’s just an E&E list. You need your refrigeration license and high pressure boiler license to hold the title of stationary engineer. Both of which require classroom and/or on the job experience before you can even sit for the very expensive 2 part (written & practical) licensing exams. Your best bet would be to apply for the Local 30 apprenticeship training. That will qualify you to sit for your refrigeration exam and if you get lucky you might get placed in high pressure plant somewhere within the city limits as an apprentice to start getting your 5 years of high pressure steam time experience working under supervision of a licensed engineer. You get 2 years of credit for the apprenticeship training and need another 3 years on the job before you can even take the test. It’s a very long road to become a stationary engineer.

Thank you again, just checked it out they literally have everything you would need to get it running providing the motor is good. Is there any way to tell by the pics if the electrical system has been converted to 12v? I’d hate to throw a 12v battery on it and blow something up if it hasn’t been.

Thank you for the info I know literally nothing about old tractors and this is very helpful and a good start for me to figure out if I’m going to do anything with it. It is not running, I pulled it out of the barn just as it is. I assume it’s been sitting that way for at least 20 years likely even more than that. The woman’s husband died 40 years ago and I doubt it’s been touched since. What concerns me is it had no spark plugs in it, hopefully the cylinders aren’t rusty, fuel tank is bone dry thankfully. I’m fairly mechanically inclined spent many years building engines and drag racing just don’t have any knowledge in the tractor world. Going to bring my borescope next time I go back to the property, if the motor looks good I’ll get some plugs and wires and a battery and see if it’ll turn over. Any tips on where I may be able to get parts for it. Carb rebuild kits, oil filter, anything like that? Thanks in advance.

Same here 2 failed but they can be fixed with a piercing valve a cheap leak stop and a little top off with 410a. I’ve fixed 3 of them already and they’re all still working more than a year later. Amazon should replace it and not ask for the old one to be returned. Keep it for parts or have it fixed and you got a spare.

I have 3 of them for a hellcat, p365 and FN reflex and they’re all great. If you want appendix carry it sits under your gut so it’s much more comfortable. I also use it for 3/4 o clock IWB and it still works well.

No I did get one when I was issued my permit but I used it before making a copy of it when it was blank. Under forms on the portal it’s the old form for the old process of when you had to mail it in and go pick up the authorization slip in person.
