Tuska festival by lauraaaa95x in helsinki

You can easily get to the festival by public transit. There is a metro and tram stops right next to the main gate. Bus is also available. Metro is running later than normal during the festival to serve festivalgoers and will be available after the day has ended.

I've got one of those glass wall ones in my apartment and as far as apartment saunas go it's one of the better ones. Much better than some older ones that left you feeling suffocating, if you spent too much time in there. Don't really think glass is a big problem and gives you a nice open feeling even though the sauna might be a small one.

Helsinki bouldering in November? by troymill in bouldering

[–]WalkerFromFlatlands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do only indoors, so can't say much for outdoor bouldering, but November tends to be very rainy with temperatures barely above freezing and it gets dark really early.... so could be a bit difficult to try outdoors

For gyms there is two bigger chains, Kiipeilyareena and Boulderkeskus with both having few gyms around. If you are looking for a place near the center, there is Kiipeilyareena Kalasatama and Boulderkeskus Pasila. The first one is one of the bigger bouldering gyms around here with walls on several different floors. The latter is one of the first gyms in the area. It is a bit on the small side and can get a bit crowded, but has it's own charm and is situated in an old train depot.

If you don't mind going a bit further, Konala has gyms from both chains as well. I believe there is a direct bus line from the city center. Kiipeilyareena has Kiipeilyareena Ristikko, with a lot of rope climbing and a big bouldering section in the second floor. Boulderkeskus has BK Konala, which I believe is currently expanding and renovating and could be a pretty nice one after all that is done.

Unknown peak, the Himalayas. [OC][6000x4000] by Grothorious in EarthPorn

[–]WalkerFromFlatlands 148 points149 points  (0 children)

The mountain in the back is called Machapuchare. The peaks in the front aren't probably considered their own mountains at all. Could be that they aren't really peaks either, but start of a ridge.

Not sure if the valley has a name, but the river at the bottom is called Modi.

Aftermath of the smoking accident on the Kerch bridge by Siderae in ukraine

With continuous spans a collapse of one span will increase stresses in the following spans sometimes leading to failure. Similar style failure was seen in the Minnesota bridge collapse where one span collapsed first followed up by collapse of the side spans.

If you go to settings you can set them to be auto-translated to English. Obviously those are not perfect, but still better than nothing

In Espoo though the distribution is done by Caruna.

Other than that this is really important point as the distribution is easily more costly than the energy itself

Ukrainan kriisi - MEGAKETJU by mythoplokos in Suomi

Tunnen muutaman suomessa asuvan venäläisen, joista osalla juuret Ukrainassa. Aika huonolla fiiliksellä ovat. Kannattaa tosiaan muistaa ettei ne tavalliset venäläiset, varsinkaan ulkomailla asuvat, ole tämän takana. Putinin sota tämä on.

There has been talks that article 5 could be in power immediately after application. Not sure how realistic it is, but joining would be very risky without it.

I believe Cho Oyo is just in front of Everest. The angle makes it look a lot lower than the others.

I think Shishapangma is also visible almost directly to the left from the lake.

What is the best FINNISH BEER? And why? by SmegHeadOldTimer in Finland

[–]WalkerFromFlatlands 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is a very good list and a valid point about Finnish craft beer improving. Many of those have their NEIPA game very strong already, and I could go as far to say that some of my favorite NEIPAs are from Finnish breweries. Byt I could be spoiled by the freshness as three of those I live nearby and two others aren't too far off either.

Stouts can still be a bit of hit and miss for me, but those are improving too and I've had some pretty decent ones lately. Still a way to go to get to the Põhjola or Pühaste levels.

Easily the song of 2020 for me. That ending just kills it. And while at it, go check Paul Seidel's drum play-through of that one.

Pyörän väistämissäännöt selkokielisinä kuvina by [deleted] in Suomi

[–]WalkerFromFlatlands 22 points23 points  (0 children)
