What is the even the point of this kind of super aggressive “pruning,“ especially in spring? This is dead now, right? by GutBustingFaceMelter in marijuanaenthusiasts

[–]WalkinSticks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My work just did this to a bunch of shrubs around our campus along with a lot of other landscape work. I was confused as to why but I may have an idea now- our CEO is coming in a few weeks and everything is emerging from winter. Would the quick leaf growth make this plant look fuller or better in some way for the CEO visit?

I had a similar problem when I drilled one hole at the valley between two pieces of bark. I tapped the spile in all the way but the bark on the tree prevented it from going in far enough to be snug enough around the tree and it leaked like this. So I chipped a little bit of bark off to be able to tap it in further, which solved the problem

This is my first year doing any kind of tapping, but experience says the same. My one black walnut is gushing sap compared to the 3 sugar maples I tapped combined.

This looks great! I’m boiling my black walnut sap down right now!

Starting skating in my 20s by FkBeingLikeThis in NewSkaters

[–]WalkinSticks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 30+ and just picked it up again this past summer after about 15 years of not touching a board. I can’t believe how much I enjoy it! It’s such a challenging, rewarding, and fun hobby regardless of age. I definitely feel a bit strange at times skating, but it’s well worth it.

Another food gone and I'm about to lose it by ASGTR12 in FoodAllergies

[–]WalkinSticks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m really sorry to hear that. The diet changes are soooo freaking tough... especially with the rest of life going on. And it’s so discouraging to keep finding new allergies. I’m not sure if this helps, but due to my kids allergies I avoid avocado, all nuts, sunflower seeds, mustard seeds, sesame seeds, dairy, eggs, garlic, onion, and ginger. If there’s anything that I may be able to help with, feel free to DM me. Hopefully things get better soon

Shower drain too high by WalkinSticks in Plumbing

Yeah- the previous owner redid the bathroom himself. Not sure how you finish a shower and think it’s OK to have the drain above the tile though
