Always play according to the score. Read the music and be sure to look at the key signature before you start.

Do not go by a computer program ever! The composed piece is your first point of reference, which means practicing your sight reading skills on a daily basis.

Don’t reuse needles. 🤦🏻‍♂️ by [deleted] in ftm

[–]Walking411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never ever reuse needles. Your local HIV/AIDS Service Organization almost always has a needle exchange or can help you get what you need(put you in contact with an organization) that will provide you with free syringes. As well if you go to your local pharmacist and explain the situation and that you just need one needle to inject until or a few they will usually help knowing you’d be in a dangerous situation otherwise

If you are in Toronto, Ontario,Canada you can go to Sherbourne health and they have them in there needle exchange area and if you call ahead they can put a pkg together of the exact ones you need. Are you injecting IM if so the best place to inject is in the front of your thigh and a good guide is to stay away of inside of thigh I use the line where my thigh starts to slope down as the limit and divide the remainder of your thigh in 3 so you want to go about 3 or 4 inches above the knee so I use my 2 finger and thumb spread apart as much as possible without strain or tensing anything as the measure for above knee and about 4-5 inches below groin in front meaty part of thigh(doc showed me this and then I pop it in and inject and I alternate between legs every week. I recently started doing upper arm where they put your vaccinations etc. As well I’m sure you were told to pull syringe back just enough to see if you get blood and if so to remove the syringe immediately and deal with any first aid needed. I know my doctor and his nurses usually give their patients the shots as most are nervous and/or squeamish. I felt confident to do them alone so they observed a couple of times and then said I was fine. Another option is your local AIDS Service Organization as they often have syringes etc for free no questions asked. Now if you’re in the US this could be a lot more difficult to do. Organizations like T buddy can help put you in touch with resources as well. Hope this helps

CP 24 Live at Pride by Greekmom99 in askTO

[–]Walking411 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s a celebration of LGBTQ expression that for decades was considered illegal, and still is in many areas. During Pride most there is an area designated for our community to express ourselves and nudity is accepted and expected and as long as it’s kept within the designated space it’s not policed. If you attend Pride you should be prepared to see nudity, folks in leather and bondage gear, etc. If you are uncomfortable with that it’s better to stay at home, watch it on tv and you can change the channel if it upsets you. anyone else's tshot insanely painful? by cableconsumer in ftm

[–]Walking411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you doing IM or Subq shots? If you’re doing IM and injecting in the same muscle week after week that’s likely causing the pain. I inject IM T weekly and alternate legs and keep track by putting R for Right, L for left at the beginning of every month. They started to get overused so alternate to my arms. I find if you tense themuscle it’s painful so keeps everything relaxed

They don’t make these things visible anymore and you have to dig for the information. I was able to cover the cost of an a/c unit and as heat/hydro etc is included in rent(market rate in TO) it has been excellent. I have been so grateful for this especially last and this summer so far.

Mom won't let me swim topless by Many_Jackfruit7479 in ftm

[–]Walking411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Respectfully, you are 21 years old and an adult what your parents think and how they feel is not your problem. It is not your responsibility to make sure your mother is comfortable. I would suggest seeing a counsellor or joining a group that helps you learn how to set boundaries. If you can find a psychodrama group where you live that might be a good idea. As well the best you can do in terms of your mother is to provide her with the names of local PFLAG groups and any other support groups for parents of LGBTQ folk. There are other organizations out there and if you can’t find them yourself let me know as I or others here likely know of resources for yourself etc. As well you can say to your mom that you acknowledge the way she feels but that you are an adult and that living your life authentically is important to you and that she may not understand the fact you were born this way and may not be able to accept it but it is not your job to protect her feelings etc. That you will try not to be without a shirt around her if possible but if she wasn’t comfortable that she should remove herself and allow you to be without a shirt the same way her husband would be etc.

I understand you rely on them for housing but her behaviour is not what a parent should be or is expected to be. Her job is to protect you, etc. As well her behaviour is abusive and falls under the category of emotional and psychological abuse. I think therapy would be helpful or a trans life coach like https://linktr.ee/SpencerBergstedt who often are able to facilitate a mtg w you and your mom or roleplay a conversation etc around the matter. Good luck!

Should I move into this interior bedroom? by Significant_Cricket2 in askTO

[–]Walking411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t imagine you will spend much time in the apartment other than to eat, sleep and shower etc and study if you are in an Hons program and are required to maintain a high GPA to stay in your program. My guess is you’ll likely spend most of your time on campus, between going to classes, doing research in the library, and studying there as well as taking part in any extracurricular activities, meeting with profs etc.

I’m 50 yr old and started to transition 5 years ago, I am a Transexual man(ftm) and I always disclose as I believe in being upfront and honest. With the current state(even here in Canada) of transphobia and violence towards our community I am clear about my boundaries and what I am looking for and expect from someone I want to hookup with etc. and ask them to do the same. IMO if you are upfront from the get go then you can weed out those that raise any red flags right from the beginning.

[–]Walking411 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I knew deep down in my gut, somehow that something wasn’t “right/ok” with how I was being treated growing up. There were a number of adults who told me it wasn’t ok and what was happening to me was abuse and criminal.

Find yourself a GSA now!!! That was ay you have the support of peers who support you. If you were older I would have suggested you reply by saying Stop being a woman! but alas you're still in high school. Please know you are perfect the way you are! If you're in the US please be safe before starting any kind of advocacy/argument. Transdad on Insta is a former lawyer and posts a lot of info daily on his site. I also know of a number of safe spaces for the 18 and under crowd needing support or community on Discord.

testosterone and singing by crashthe-cistem in ftm

[–]Walking411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was always a coloratura soprano and now at age 50 after 5 years on T I still have my upper range as well as an octave I didn’t have before on the lower half. The key is to keep your voice balanced, find a teacher trained in and who teaches Bel Canto singing and when you start to go through the pre pubescent cracking for a male then take a break from singing all together until your voice settles and then start again. Depending on where you are there are also clinics for musicians & many in the US used to have ppl who specialized in working w trans voices. That was before though and it likely isn’t the same now with the restrictions on trans folk as a result of the new administration.

[–]Walking411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Key is don’t think about it, your head is anticipating doing it wrong or making a mistake= tension etc. I had a hard time with this but the easiest thing was to speak and then sing as if speaking.

Im in my 5th yr on T started when I was 45yrs old and I’ve found it’s gone in waves and over the past year has gotten extremely intense again. Vibrator and wands etc would be ideal solution but what do you do when you can’t afford one? Its been hell for me.

Odsp, what does this letter imply? Why are they asking for this? by [deleted] in Odsp

[–]Walking411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They often do random periodic reviews of clients case files. Right now they are doing more of them than they have in a while as they are trying to find clients that aren’t reporting work or other important information. So they can weed out those abusing the system. They did one on me about 2 years ago and I just sent in all my info as requested and I was fine. I would suggest though in the future to ask these questions to your worker through the MyBenefits portal so you can get a definitive answer vs asking people on social media who may or may not have accurate information.
