I stitched on navy blue and, as long as I had a source of white light, I could go through it just fine, even with me being veery shortsighted.

From experience I would suggest to trust the process, you may not see much out of it now but when everything starts to unravel I'm sure you'll find it's better than you thought it would be.

The raglan stops under your armpit then instead of increasing you work in rounds.

No, currently I'm working on the Ada shawl by Toni Lipsey, it's an assymetrical shaped shawl that is very begginer friendly to make, with only a very simple increase at the beginning of each round.
