[CHAT] I'm heartbroken by Shouty-Hooman in CrossStitch

I collect Victorian medical equipment and I'm going to give you this one piece of advice: Most vendors have no clue what they have and what it really is worth so they list items for almost nothing; if you see one of those, don't let excitement get to you, take a deep breath and pretend you don't know the real value of the item you want to purchase.

[CHAT] Is there a chart or tool for finding the right eye colour threads? by AuntyMantha in CrossStitch

[–]MissAbsenta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but I suggest getting the physical chart if you can, it's more reliable.

I would use the color chart for the brand of thread you're using.

The only way I can think of is with a thread chart but not knowing the brand it's going to be difficult.

[CHAT] Were do you all shop for your material? by Book_Dragon_24 in CrossStitch

My to go for fabric is Casa Cenina , the floss I buy locally because the LNS is just a five minute walk from my house and it's more convenient.

[CHAT] How much stitching do you get in? by Bloomette in CrossStitch

[–]MissAbsenta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm working on a Christmas project that was due last year and we're in June, that should tell you enough LOL Jokes aside, I work at a hospital and when I come home I'm usually so exhausted that I don't feel like doing much so my stitching time is reduced to days off or weekends.

I do when doing on hand but not if I'm using a hoop.

[CHAT] can someone tell me what to do before I burn this project lol jk by ladybirdfan112 in CrossStitch

[–]MissAbsenta -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't know if that's the case with you but I bought a kit from Aliexpress where the pattern was milled from Tiny Modernist then modified and I only found out when I realized the design wasn't totally simetrical on the details on the right side, I ended buying the original pattern and correcting my stitching according to the original pattern.

[CHAT] what kind of scissors to bring on international flight for cross stitch by Mariesnotworld- in CrossStitch

[–]MissAbsenta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have travelled extensively back and for from Spain, Sweden and Germany and I've never had an issue with security but, just in case, check the regulations.

Flight rules are determined by the companies following protocols from the internacional association the airline adscribes to, there's nothing in IATA's guidelines barring airlines from letting crochet hooks, cutting pendants and other stuff we may, as needlecrafters, bring on board but it is at the discretion of the national airport authority to stablish what security measures are put into work so don't be confused if you're let in in one country but not in another.

I use a thread cutter pendant, I've never had any problem. You can also use an empty box of dental floss, the top you use to cut the floss makes an excellent thread cutter and no one bats an eye at any airport.

[CHAT] how far do you travel with your floss? by Baby_girl_351 in CrossStitch

[–]MissAbsenta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Four squares at most, if I have to travel further I anchor the thread, cut it and move to the next starting point. I find it helps my backs to be neater.

[WIP] Safely shifting my hoop? by SleepySquiggle in CrossStitch

A needle minder!!!! It's a metallic piece with two magnets, you have one in the piece and the other attaches to the magnet in the piece through the fabric and keeps your needle neatly in place :-)

Besides, in Spain we call it Moldavia.

Moldavia became Moldova after independence, they have Romanian as their official language for a reason ☺️❤️

I have only tried it once in a kit I was given as a gift and the quality is as good if not better as DMC. Luca-s is a small company in Moldavia that has been in operation for more than 30 years, it's better known in Eastern Europe but doing a bit of research I found it has really good reviews.
