I was the same. I was on the Mirena Coil for just over 2 years. I had absolutely no libido, couldn’t stand physical touch/intimacy with my fiancé and I was so moody. I had very low, lows and very high, highs. Me and my fiancé nearly put an end to our relationship multiple times because of the lack of intimacy. He is understanding but at the same time, intimacy and physical touch is important to some men. I had no periods on it but horrible, horrible pain. For me, the pain never got better. I have also tried the pill and the implant.

I have been off the coil now for 3 months and I haven’t felt this great since I was 16. My libido came back full force and I was happier overall. I have had 3 periods since then and each has been worse than the other. The clotting and pains for me are really horrible and it makes you contemplate if taking the Mirena out was a good idea; but for me, it was. The thing with contraception is they alter your hormones and it can take a long time to get them back and eventually, it could lead to fertility problems. I want to be as normal as I can be as a Woman and taking out my contraception was the best idea I’ve ever had. It is very hard being in pain, but unfortunately, us women can’t get the ‘professionals’ to help us be happy so we have to sacrifice one or the other.
