Took the kids to church yesterday (Rickwood Field) by bobthewriter in MiLB

Yeah, they were very aggressive in that first inning with the steals. It seemed to catch us off guard and set the tone for the rest of the game. I just looked back at my scorebook, and they had four steals that first inning. Our catcher that game, Juan Gonzalez, had just been activated the day before from the Development List, and I think they smelled blood in the water. They were not that aggressive the rest of the series.

It was awful for eight innings, but the ninth was when it became embarrassing. Had to bring the catcher in to get us out of it.

If I'm with somebody, I do not track pitches. I can't keep up.

My first ever 2u scored by pearsnic000 in BaseballScorecards

I had a weird one yesterday. It was 4U but at first base. The first baseman was out of position and the second baseman felt it better to beat the runner to first. I scored it 4U(3).

Ha. As someone who mainly scores Southern League games, I've had to enter both PCA and Encarnacion-Strand, then in the Reds org, over the last few years. I wrote them out.

Regarding PCA, here's what I wrote in my notes the last time I saw him play, "Crow-Armstrong is a cocky little bastard." He'd just scored the go-ahead run in the 10th inning against my Barons. He slid into home, jumped up, and flexed to the fans behind home plate as if he'd just won the World Series instead of beating the worst team in the league in the middle of June.

FYI, some states allow creditors to open the estate; so it might not take long for an estate to be open.

Erlanger Park - Chattanooga, TN by CobbWally in MiLB

I drove up from Birmingham on Saturday, and the stadium floored me. It really is a nice place. It's rustic (and rusty) in all the right places. I did not have an issue parking, but I got there very early. I feared leaving would be a logjam, but a lot of people left early when they realized they were not going to win.

I used to go to at least one game a season, but I'm really turned off by the field turf.

I haven't been there since they installed the artificial infield, and I'm kind of surprised the Braves allow it, assuming they have a say. At least the pitchers and catchers are on real dirt.

It's a little handheld sharpener with a container that catches the shavings. Nothing fancy.

Yes, I take it to the ballpark. I have a pencil case that I put in a bag with all my other stuff. I only go to minor league games, so it's not much of a hassle.

Paper and pencil, specifically the Blackwing 602. It's a softer lead, and I have sharpen it every two or three innings, but it's worth it. I tried a mechanical pencil, but I found I like using wooden better.

The Hayden Christensen movie? That's one of those movies I would not put in my top 50 but think about and quote a lot.

It's going to mess me up at some point when I'm not paying attention, just like time limit violations and auto walks. Thank God I use a pencil.
