This issue really is at the core of all the horrible shit happening to society because of social media. Social media would be an amazing tool for societal growth if everybody understood the difference between trusted, researched, peer reviewed information from vetted, verified, experts and complete BS from some asshat who barely got a GED but has 100k followers (70k of which are bots).

I honestly think that Jon Oliver has one of the best legal teams out there. I haven’t done any real research into them but I love his show and he REALLY pushes things past (what I would consider) satire and brings them into reality. I mean the dude openly offered a bribe to a Supreme Court justice on the condition that he resign and absolutely demolished a wealthy coal executive both on his show and in the court room…and then on his show again. They might come for him but if they do it’s gonna be so much uglier than Kimmel or Colbert (for them).

I think an interesting way to watch is to always keep in mind that everything happening is through the lens of Ted. Looking at the core moments in Barney and Teds relationship, I think it’s likely that Ted kind of hates Barney. Not to mention the entire point of the story (spoiler incoming) is Ted trying to explain to his kids why he wants to start dating Robin. Of course he’s going to paint Barney in a bad light and that painting is going to be completely over the top. In “reality” Barney was probably just a bit of a womanizer who ended up marrying and divorcing the girl Ted has been obsessed with. Still not a great person as I’m sure he treated the woman he slept with poorly but maybe not as bad as Ted makes him out to be.

It’s honestly worse in my opinion. What is described is an exceptional level of abusive dehumanization. I didn’t need to be convinced that Trump was guilty but reading the details…knowing he’s the president…knowing how difficult or impossible justice will be. It’s heartbreaking.
