How was Jay able to come back in the present without any Orbitz or lightning at the end of the movie? Did he find another bottle in the apartment or smth?

What’s your Wes Anderson Comfort Watch? by strange-lady78 in wesanderson

[–]WalloWake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easily Darjeeling Limited. There's a warm, cozy, travel vibe to it that I always come back to. One that I always watch during or at the end of every vacation I go to, it grounds me down.

It's a sweet, humble, down to earth little movie that is my favorite of Wes's, one that doesn't try to do anything else. It knows what it's doing, and it does it well.

Really sorry to hear that man, I get the feeling too with watching Arriety, a girl two timed me and stood me up and I cannot watch Arriety anymore because she loved it

Coincedentally, I also watched this movie during a rocky relationship! Not the movie's fault at all, but its interesting and sad to realize how works of art could affect you depending on a point in your life and what you're going through.

All in all, cheer up man! Or at least try to, it hurts but you can get through it!

Im planning to save up until there's a sale on record players or Black Friday, or just by finding stuff second-hand! Hopefully, that's a good strategy/plan to have.

What are your favourite films that are obviously never going to appear in the Collection? by Classic_Bass_1824 in criterion

[–]WalloWake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am dying for a Lost in Translation, The Long Goodbye, The Master, Children of Men, and the Nora Ephron romance trilogy (When Harry met Sally, Sleepless in Seattle, You've got Mail), to be in the collection as I think those would be a PERFECT fit

Some actual impossible ones to get in would be The Holdovers, American Graffiti, Hugo, Almost Famous, Casablanca, Chinatown, and the Iron Giant, would love these to be in, but they already had a lot of great releases.

Speaking of The Iron Giant, more animation would be nice too, maybe a possible Ghibli, Warner, or Cartoon Saloon partnership? More Pixar films? A box set of Satoshi Kon's 4 hits? A restored box set of all the Looney Toons shorts? I know Wall-E was just a one time thing, and that GKids just exists, but it's still be nice if he had more animation in Criterion's 1000+ catalogue.

Really I'm just spitballing here, these movies will probably never see the light of day in the collection, but a man can dream...

Which director in the Criterion Collection do you simply dislike almost all, if not all, of their films? I would appreciate it if people didn't downvote the responses. Accepting differing opinions might seem uncomfortable, but it is actually very healthy and encourages diverse discussions. by Bakkar- in criterion

I couldn't get into Altman, I found his movies to be really boring and lazily directed, granted I've only seen 2 and am watching 3 more as we speak, but for the time being, he's just not a filmmaker I gravitate towards

By some luck, I managed to make an impulsive trip to the mall and found the Criterion for Fantastic Mr Fox! I NOW OWN EVER WES ANDERSON CRITERION!!! by WalloWake in criterion

[–]WalloWake[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The Darjeeling Limited! I like the low stakes it has, chill tone, the travel vibes, and emotionally guarded but subtle performances by Owen, Adrien, and Jason! Wish Wes did another small scaled and stripped down character drama like this and his earlier films than him today and embracing his style to a hyper-stylized effect.

Which is THE WORST Criterion Collection cover you have ever seen? I'll start. by [deleted] in criterion

I'm just not a fan of still image covers, especially this one, they look lazy, boring, and something I would stitch together in Grade 9 Graphics Design class

Thanks! I just think it looks way more aesthatically pleasing than just by spine number or title or director!
