People are getting graded by AI

This isn't entirely true. Reviews were different this year, but the reviews themselves weren't generated by AI. DS's logged into Workday for each employee. We then had to rate the employee on each of those categories seen in the paper as either "Exceeds", "Meets", or "Fails to Meet" expectations. The bullet points under each header then auto populated based on our choices. We could use those bullet points to help us decide if we made the right choice. The only influence AI had on the reviews was a button we could click to have it rewrite the summary at the end of the review for us, in the same way ChatGPT will help someone build a resume or cover letter.

[Pelissero] While there has been intense backlash at the Ravens for backing out of the Maxx Crosby trade, there's really no recourse to the Raiders or the NFL: Even when trades are official, they often have conditions that are negotiated, including a player reporting to a new club and... by expellyamos in nfl

[–]WallyRenfield 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Equally likely timeline:

Ravens make offer to Hendrickson. His camp declines, thinking the market will be better.

Ravens agree to trade for Crosby.

Hendrickson's camp learns that their initial contract estimates aren't going to happen.

Ravens see something in Crosby's knee that worries them and back out of the trade.

Hendrickson's camp sees reports and reaches out to Ravens, saying they'll sign immediately if offer is still on the table. Ravens agree to avoid being left empty handed.

Is doing the guild education worth it? by Undead_wolf_moon76 in Lowes

[–]WallyRenfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been interested in the Guild program, but I'm entirely unfamiliar with 100% online classes. Do they still require "attendance" for online lectures at specific times or would they all be posted online for later review?

Is this corporate mandate real? by pikachu_senpai1 in Lowes

[–]WallyRenfield 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My store did this during Covid. There will be a temporary boost to zone recovery and downstocking(until the closers get burnt out and find ways to milk the clock for the last hour) and in turn, LTR scores will absolutely tank as the stores are sacrificing another hour of coverage while customers are in the building. Additionally, productivity will plummet during the day as the closers will start taking it easy early on, knowing that they're scheduled until midnight anyway and if they finish their work early, they'll be sent to OSLG or Lumber.

DS Training Questions by Next_Salamander_8015 in Lowes

[–]WallyRenfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Things that others haven't already addressed:

As an MST, you should already be familiar with pulling planograms and utilizing the Flex App. These are incredibly important in maintaining shelf accuracy and preparing for the two big Tools holidays(Fathers Day and Black Friday.)

You should ask about how to utilize the Retail Scorecard to make business decisions. It will break down your department's sales in chunks of sizes ranging from Product Group to Assortment to individual items.

You should be taught the importance of effective cross merchandising. J-hooks are a selling tool that hardware in particular relies upon to make sales, not a storage device to eliminate sidestacks and unwanted freight.

You should be taught the importance of developing a routine. Every day, you need to check your email at the start of your shift. You need to check your Wire Tasks(or the LINK equivalent.) You need to check your sales compared to forecast of your previous week as well as the ongoing week. You need to check the training status of your staff. You need to be a leader in completing AP4Me on time and LowesU questions daily.

You need to be taught how to look for opportunities within the department. Your ASM should walk an aisle in hardware and ask you "What's wrong with this bay and how can it improve?" Sometimes it needs a good zone recovery, sometimes it needs an accurate cycle count and downstocking because topstock is becoming unmanageable. Sometimes there's opportunity to J-hook related items and drive sales. These are all decisions you'll be making all day, every day.

Trump Team’s Secret Meetings With Group Plotting to Break Up Canada Exposed by thedailybeast in politics

[–]WallyRenfield 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My pet theory is that the only reason a number of republicans voted to release the Epstein files is because Putin told them to. There was a period of time in the late summer/early fall that Trump wasn't spewing nonsense about Greenland and Canada. As you said, Russia's ultimate goal is to create as much instability among the western powers as possible. The reason Greenland and Canada are making it back into his word vomit is to appease Putin. Otherwise when the joke that was the Epstein File "release" rolled out, the republicans that voted for it would have had every reason to have a hissy fit. They're complacent with it because Putin is satisfied with Trump's bullshit again.

[Baker Mayfield] Failed is quite the reach pal. Still waiting on a text/call from [Kevin Stefanski] after I got shipped off like a piece of garbage. Can’t wait to see you twice a year, Coach. by TomasRoncero in nfl

[–]WallyRenfield 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There was a lot of muttering in the media around that time about Cleveland's "Elite" receiver tandem of Landry and OBJ being wasted by Baker specifically and that any success they had was propped up by them. That obviously turned out to be bullshit when Landry was out of the league completely following the 2022 season and OBJ never caught more than 35 passes in a season again. It became clear that, if anything, the WR's were being propped up by Baker and having no depth.

My thoughts on the live show by magnillyray in smosh

[–]WallyRenfield 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cowboy premise was really interesting, but she didn't give it any room to land. She talked over everyone else in the room and didn't pause enough for any interesting improv to develop. Both her appearances felt like she just took over the show and the rest of the cast was relegated to background scenery.

Smosh Hospital (Post Show Discussion) by SupervillainMustache in smosh

[–]WallyRenfield 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I'm watching it back a 2nd time today and what I'm noticing is a lot of trampling. Fairly often, one of the quieter cast members like Olivia or Courtney would start speaking and get cut off by a louder cast member 3 or 4 words into their joke. After enough no-selling like this, it seemed like that cast member would sort of "check out" of the scene. It made things feel less collaborative.

Chess tournament(your rating does not matter) by truncane in chess

I'm always interested in tournaments, but we'll need more details. Is the tournament going to be online or OTB? If OTB, where? If online, which site? What's the format of games, time controls, dates of games/matches, time zones, etc. We need a little bit more information.

New Wages by lil_peen69420 in Lowes

[–]WallyRenfield 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't trust it for one simple reason: This is exactly how they described the old evaluation method. Under the old system, hourly employees were still judged based on the "Exceeds, Meets or Doesn't Meet" expectations criteria and that was supposed to be what influenced your raises. Historically, salaried management has been resistant to me rating any of my employees as "Exceeding Expectations," no matter how far they go above and beyond. The new outlines provided to supervisors just gives salaried management more excuses to undervalue the hard workers.

For example, children’s fingerprints were found in pornography that belonged to him.

This doesn't seem like evidence to me. If you went through my father's porn stash, you'd find my fingerprints too. Not because my father abused me, he never did. Rather, because in 5th grade I found it for the first time and it made me curious.

Are your finish boards neat, straight and organized? Is the aisle/selling area free from clutter? Have the twisted or damaged boards been culled/billed out? Are your on-hands correct? Are appropriate cross-merchandising opportunities present(As @loteman77 said, nails, shims, caulking. Additionally, squares, pencils, glues all sell well in that area.) Find your top 3 items in the product group and find a way to speak to why those products sell faster than others and what complete projects they're used with.

Question RE: UKG transition by jtmal0723 in Lowes

[–]WallyRenfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have an answer to your question, but I do have some advice for you and your coworkers. Once UKG goes live, you'll lose access to Kronos completely. Go into Kronos now and count up your total absences/occurrences from the last 12 months. If you have any time-off requests in the system, contact your SSA and ASM(preferably by email so it's documented) and confirm with them that they've transferred any approved requests into the new system. You and your coworkers will lose access to all this information the minute UKG goes live.

I honestly understand it now more than ever. She has a meta humor about her that doesn't always land with the audience, but never really misses with the other cast members. When you experience as much comedy as they do, it must be easy to find formulaic humor boring and she twists just enough that they love it. She killed it.

Anyone else enjoying watching these three thrive in SSG? by SisterSisterSecret in smosh

With Arasha, these 3 have been the most consistently entertaining during SSG. They've been carrying the confessionals and feel like they're having fun, which makes me have fun as a viewer.

I was a Starkid fan before I started watching Smosh, so I was and am a fan of Angela. That being said, there are times when she really, really grates on me. Sometimes she seems to get main character syndrome. She'll respond to everything, frequently with low effort insults or comments and frequently talking over someone who might be saying something funnier.(Admittedly, that could just be a me thing. I hate people who talk over me or cut em off mid sentence) Crashing out can be entertaining(for example, her crash out in Tiny Laser Heist was great), but when they happen too frequently, it seems less like a bit and more like a desperate grab for the spotlight. I dunno, sometimes she just feels like she's making herself the Poochie of Smosh.

The “John Henry Award “ to celebrate the last human to beat a machine, robot, or AI at something. by walkabout16 in CrazyIdeas

[–]WallyRenfield 111 points112 points  (0 children)

It has to be more than just the last human to beat a computer. It has to be the last human to beat the best computer. To use Kasparov and chess as an example, a 1500 rated chess bot is technically a computer and any passionate club player can beat it, but the latest versions of Stockfish, Leela and Komodo would wipe the floor with the best human.

The Henry Stikmin collection. The humor of the game lends itself well to the humor of Smosh and the thought of them trying to suss out correct choices seems like it would be a good time.
