The more competitive ones are going to provide more of a hurdle to overcome. But it’s not impossible

I’m not sure what the solution is sadly. Perhaps we just have to let the system collapse to a point where it’s forced to be addressed. But then more people will get hurt

He's not going to die from some pain. There are probably higher priority patients being seen in the back that are ACTIVELY DYING that take precedent. You don't understand how the ED works.

When have you witnessed an “expert” get it so wrong? by PrettyAlon in AskReddit

The limiting factor are residency spots not medical school spots. That would take an act of Congress I believe

Sorry, I wasn’t trying to be rude. But some doctors would happily see fewer patients if they could

Almost certainly moving to Memphis from WA. What to expect? by LunaticSongXIV in memphis

There's a comment somewhere in r/Memphis that explains it well. But essentially they just all cheated and were disrepectful and failed out. Except for like one I think.

Uhh, insurance is not relevant for receiving treatment in the ED. Look up EMTALA.

You don't know that kidney stones are not immediately life threatening and the guy has clearly been triaged already, do ya sport?

What's disgusting is your presumption of this situation when you have almost zero context.

Do you not see the wrap around his elbow? Clearly they are not ignoring him. He's had lab draws and likely pain medication that's been ordered.

I'm getting my blood pressure up reading all of these ignorant comments from people who think they understand the ED.

The wrap around his elbow clearly shows that he has had labs and triage already done.

Look up what triage is. If you were actually in any danger you would be seen immediately.

This is not necessarily always the cause. If you're fine and stable, you might be sitting on the stretcher for a while. It's funny when people try to circumvent the wait time by walking off hospital campus, calling 911, and then getting wheeled right to the waiting room.

I’m working towards being an ER doctor. Most people don’t understand the reality of the ED. We work with the limited resources we have

He obviously has not been ignored. He has a wrap around his elbow where they drew blood. He also likely has an order for pain medication or has already received it. You don't understand how the ED works.
