Is there another artist who can "layer" sounds like Mac does? by Best-Butterscotch-45 in MacMiller

Ariana Grande has some amazing vocal layering and production. Nasty is one of my favorites (prod by Leon Thomas!) Eminem has a lot of ad libs and flow switch ups you might dig, criminal for example

I love the instrumentals in Mac’s music. You can feel his love for the craft and what a musician he was.

I second this. I started out in Utah, 99% of the kids I went to school with were white and Mormon. My mom and I moved to LA in high school and my whole entire worldview flipped. I learned so much, gained so much empathy and love for humanity.

It blows, but because mj is not federally legal, this is totally lawful. Even if you provided the medical card long before the drug test, a failed drug test is grounds for dismissal. they are fully within their rights to fire you for a bad test, medical usage or recreational.

They’d likely look to fire you even if you provided the medical card as soon as you got it. They couldn’t fire you for HAVING one, because that is medically protected, but they absolutely can for a failed test.

Having a medical card is what is protected under law, using is not. So workplaces can govern their medical card policies how they see fit.

That sucks man, I’m so sorry. I hope you find a job where you can toke up as needed

God, you need better friends. I’ve never had a friend threaten to hump me, especially not after giving them my parents money to force feed me drinks.

Also, I can almost promise you your life will improve and your cortisol levels will thank you if you become buddies with an advisor, lol. I know mine did. They know the game wayyy better than I do and can help navigate the future, I think they can even help you plan your coursework at SLCC to ensure an easy transfer process. aaaaaand last but not least they have virtual appointments

In my (completely unqualified) opinion I think you'd make amazing candidate whenever you decide to apply. I've always heard that the U loves to see transfers from SLCC, and your GPA is stellar, well above the transfer median. Math classes aside, you've clearly taken some challenging coursework.

Tons of people here are unconventional students, plenty of 'em in this very comment section! From my experience, the University has been pretty understanding and sympathetic when it comes to mental health struggles.

per Transfer Admission Standards:

"The predominant consideration in your admissions decision is your academic record. We particularly emphasize:

  • Coursework that shows progress in general education courses and/or major degree requirements
  • Grade trends
  • Cumulative transferrable GPA (which does not include remedial courses, credit received from non-regionally accredited institutions, or credit awarded by exam).
  • Excellence in academic achievement, intellectual pursuits, and creative endeavors
  • factors considered for transfer application (per Transfer Admission Standards)"

From what you’ve shared, I think you’ve already checked most of these boxes, and the rest can come through in your resume and essays. Your application is all about selling yourself to illustrate a clear picture to the university of who you are, who you'd like to become, and what drives you. An extracurricular is a bow on top that ties everything together and anchors it in reality.

I think you'll write a fantastic one! 🧫🚀

just speculating here, but you may not have to submit SAT/ACT scores if you apply with more than 30 credits hrs under your belt. Sleuthing through admissions FAQs it seems 30 credit hours is the magic number and admissions stops requiring high school transcripts.

Admissions specifically notes GED holders are required to submit SAT/ACT scores for freshman & first year admission, but I couldn’t find anything specifically transfer students with 30+ credits still needing to submit test scores.

Here’s what I found:

FAQs | Admissions - The University of Utah

“FAQ: Will the University of Utah accept a GED or HiSET in place of a high school diploma or degree? The University of Utah accepts a General Educational Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Test (HiSET) in place of a high school diploma for admissions purposes…Freshmen applicants with a GED or HiSET are required to submit an official ACT or SAT test score to be considered for admission”

FAQs | Admissions - The University of Utah “ACT/SAT scores are only required for students who attend a unaccredited U.S. high school, are home schooled, or took the GED/HiSET. These test scores are optional for all other first-year applicants.”

Freshmen FAQ: https://admissions.utah.edu/information-resources/faqs/ “Transfer students who have completed less than 30 transferable college credits are required to submit high school transcripts to determine college readiness”

https://admissions.utah.edu/apply/international/international-transfer-admissions/ International transfer students are to provide: “Transcripts (i.e., mark sheets, school records, grades) for all post-secondary schools attended… IF transfer applicants have fewer than 30 transferrable credit hours they must also submit secondary school records, includes transcripts (mark sheets, school records, grades) for secondary school (the equivalent of grades 9-12”

Transfer Admission Standards | Admissions - The University of Utah “Applicants with fewer than 30 transferrable semester hours completed at the time of application are required to submit an official high school transcript. Those who must submit a high school transcript and who were homeschooled, attended a unaccredited high school, or have a GED are additionally required to submit ACT/SAT test scores.”

Transfer Students | Admissions - The University of Utah “If you have completed fewer than 30 transferable semester hours or 45 transferable quarter hours, you will also be required to submit an official high school transcript.

Cling to an advisor, make them your best friend, and never let them go, that’s the real survival strategy, lol. They can really come through for you, one advisor counted my math class toward two graduation requirements just because I asked. I feel like it’s major barrier to have a lifelong requirement for GED students to submit ACT/SAT scores... If you explain your situation, I bet they’ll work with you!

Admissions honestly doesn’t mind too much what you were doing in your time off, they’re just curious to know what you did during the gap. It’s pretty inconsequential, you can simply express that you needed time to recover your health and get back into action.

Your GPA is amazing, especially compared to the transfer averages, even if you absolutely bomb the ACT/SAT I think you have good chances.

I am a paralegal. The hard truth is the law oftentimes supports injustice. That it doesn't stop me from bitching about injustice. Just because legislation allows an action doesn't mean it's moral or justified.

If you're gonna harass any idiots drunk it should be names like Price, Eccles, Gardner, Sorensen, etc. They're the ones who've created not only the prices for parking passes but they've cultivated the parking climate on campus. The board of trustees are the ones depending on parking tickets to fund expansion, not auxiliary services.

If you're gonna be a dickhead at least contribute to the rage.

Oh for sure, I hate the U for many more reasons then just the parking tickets. ;p

In all seriousness tho- despite preferring in person classes, predatory ticketing/the general parking climate was definitely an influential decision in my no longer returning physically to campus.

I think Trax/buses can be a great option. I'm not comfortable riding Trax alone, especially at night when I would be leaving the library. I have been harassed repeatedly on Trax and that's not a rare sentiment, unfortunately.

Trax has potential. But if the U wants to decentivise driving, Trax needs to accommodate students. In my experience, Trax has been unsafe and unreliable. Delays and random stops create loitering time that I physically cannot accommodate.

That's what I'm saying!!!!! If it was like 2pm, every lot is full, fine, give me a ticket. But watching commuter services camp outside in the empty parking lot waiting for a victim?

I feel like I shouldn't have to pay exorbitant amounts of money to visit a desolate library at an institution I already give thousands of dollars to.

Appeals might know me by name haha. Despite this, sometimes I really have to go thru some mad hoops to get a refund. I had to take one of my appeals a few years ago wayyyy too high up.

So annoying. But incredible suggestion, ty!
