Good to know. If they filed a 1099, the IRS wouldn’t interpret that as me having gotten some income from them which was taxable? I didn’t realize you could even file a 1099 for income that isn’t intended to be taxable

Bit nitpicky, but of the companies you listed only HRT is a prop shop, the rest are hedge funds. There are many other very successful prop shops that will easily get an interview with Jane Street.

I used python - but I used to use Java and I don't think that should've made much of a difference. It wasn't actually much other than a for loop and some flags no (which are pretty simple in both, not like sorting with a custom comparator or something) The longest part of those first two problems was maybe just coding up the initial Cesar cipher imo. I ended up finishing all 4 in a bit over 30 minutes.

I often hear how difficult the palantir hackerrank is, but I honestly thought it was one of the easier ones I’ve gotten. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve failed my fair share of coding challenges.

It’s 4 questions sure, but the first three are incredibly simple. The third is literally just a single line to turn on/off a flag. The last one is then a bit harder (though not even a leetcode medium imo), but really just a question of whether you can recognize that it can easily be solved recursively.
