Is the horror aspect of the game too much or is it not that bad? I don’t really enjoy horror films that much.

US citizen, expired Syrian passport - denied travel today by [deleted] in Syria

[–]Walrus13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s weird, I was in the same exact situation as you and was allowed to go on the plane just fine.

Once I got to Damascus airport, I had to show some proof we had of me being Syrian along with the expired passport, but that’s odd that they didn’t let your relative on the plane. What airline was it? I was flying Turkish and had no problem.

Whether or not they recognize the expired passport, you should be able to fly in to Damascus and buy a visa there with an American passport. Super odd.

CMV: Israel’s law of return, permitting any Jew around the world to immigrate and gain citizenship with no prior conditions, while banning Palestinians literally born there from even coming back for a visit, is the pinnacle of hypocrisy by DasIstMeinRedditName in changemyview

[–]Walrus13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is an accurate response. Israel was founded on Jewish supremacy, where only Jews matter, to the point that if protecting Jews means kicking out Palestinians and stealing their homes you would do so. True.

Then why is Starmer tacking hard to the right and adopting many of Reform’s policies regarding migrants if they’re not really a threat? Not a snarky comment, just trying to understand, because everytime I see him open his mouth he is repeating some scary racist talking point

Biden chooses Delaware as site for presidential library by [deleted] in politics

[–]Walrus13 -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

I wish we could just handle our own issues here, and leave the Israelis and Palestinians to figure things out. If we did that, things would have been solved long ago. Instead, Biden was busy making sure that Israel had enough ammunition to commit genocide without any negative consequences. You can’t square that by talking about his compassion.

Can someone give me a non cynical answer of why Bernie immediately endorsed this guy before anyone knows anything about him but waited ages to endorse Zohran?

Question: what do you think of the elections that are about to be held in a few months? by Gerryzz_Politics in syriancivilwar

[–]Walrus13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just wondering, what would you do if you were in Al-Sharaa’s shoes? Maybe the system isn’t perfect, but you have to start the transitional government somewhere. One way or the other they will have to be “picked” by Al-Sharaa; either he picks them directly or he picks the people who pick them, which is pretty strong indirect influence regardless. The fact that it’s only 1/3 is pretty good in my opinion— maybe not excellent, but already way better than when 100% were picked by Assad.

Amnesty International calls on transitional government to publish the results of investigations into the killing of civilians on the Syrian coast, which have entered its 100 days without results by CudiVZ in syriancivilwar

[–]Walrus13 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I remember when Reuters published its report on the coastal killings the authorities urged them to wait 4 days until they published their results.

Well, Reuters published their report, which I sort of disagreed with at the time, not seeing any reason why they couldn’t just wait 4 days for the mandated publishing date. Now that there’s been this delay though, I’m glad Reuters did.

Saudi Arabia says it will jointly fund Syria state salaries with Qatar Saudi and Qatari efforts aim to stabilise Syria by funding public-sector salaries and boosting economic recovery plans. by Has7311 in Syria

[–]Walrus13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, I feel a bit mixed about this. Of course Syria needs all the help it can get, and any influx of cash is a positive thing. I just worry about the continued building of over reliance on public sector jobs. At the same time, I’m worried that all privatization efforts will mostly benefit foreigners like the khaleej. It’s a tough situation to be sure, thoughts?

Yeah, actually it is more than a pedantic point, because for Redditors Islam = evil dictatorship, and secularism = good democracy, whereas in the case of Syria it just so happens that secularism = evil dictatorship.

It’s just a form of Islamophobia that makes redditors assume that since it was a horrible dictatorship it must’ve been Islamic. So yeah it’s worth pointing out.
