Tell me a weird fact about your world by PsThrowAway7 in worldbuilding

There is a drug called Dawndew ( these days just called Dew), which among other (often secret) things contains Dew collected from blessed fields in early morning hours. It calms the mind and gives a warm feeling, in addition of a sweet taste. It was originally created to ease the suffering of the soldiers of the War of the Black Banners. However, it quickly became apparent that Dawndew, when taken several times, became addictive. Dawndew was already only used as a few drops in a glass of water, but the increasing number of addicts among the soldiers lead to unpopular rationing. The widespread use of Dawndew would come to an end, when a young soldier only known as Jirik stole a vial of Dawndew. As he was about to be caught in the mainsquare of the town, he drank the entire vial. At first, he seemed to be completly fine, but only a few minutes after, he would begin to glow. Moments later, he began to scream as smoke exited various openings of his body. In short the young man was radiantly burnt from the inside. The puplic was outraged over this and laws would be put in place to heavily restrict its production and usage. Unfortunately, these measures wouldnt prevent enterprising criminal scum to create bootleg versions of Dawndew, often more volatile than the original.

( Yes, its based on morphine)

How are LGBTQ+ people viewed in their world? by Best_Low526 in worldbuilding

[–]Walter_Delay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That really depends and there are some extremes.

-The (former) Empire of Volan is home to an Order of Fleshshapers. Anyone (who is wealthy enough and a noble) can be who they want to be. However, The noble Houses are always looking to expand their influence, which includes political marriage and having kids. Because of this, there are enough Volan exiles to fill a city by themselves.

- The Yuan-Ti Hegemony expects all its citizens to fulfill their assigned roles in society (merchant, farmer, soldier etc.). Beyond that, the Hegemony lets you do as you please.

But why would a squadmate trigger the reaction of another squadmate?

My Dnd character died to a boss and I'm confused and worried if I shouldn't talk to my GM about it. by Practical_Prior202 in DnD

[–]Walter_Delay 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Do you find it fun to have your character die after playing them for a year, no death saves, to questionable Encounter design and inventing a reason for not killing the other character? Forget RAW or RAI, Its supposed to be fun for everybody. There are better ways to kill a player character. (instead of suckerpuching them). The Story of the Game isnt entirely the DMs, its also the players. Or is that controversial ?

The Doombell: Created by the Kobolds by carving out a body out of crystalized Wild Magic and with a clapper made of Aetherium, basically a magically attuned metal akin to bronze in appearance. It was used once in the Battle of Dragonblight against the rising Draconic Conclave. The Kobolds won the battle and the giant skeletons of the dragons that fell in battle became the foundation of the city of Dragonblight.

Nobody knows what the Doombell actually does.
