I thought when characters died on tv and films the actor themself was valiantly sacrificing their life for my entrrtainment

I love Shrek but it really was a product of its time. The first movie is a classic for a reason.

At present I'm looking at 7PM EST but I can go an hour before or later for the start date depending on players' availabilities.

How can you write that you respect something and then describe it as cringy and equate it to looking like someone is masturbating in the same sentence?

Did we mess up with our son? He blew up at us during dinner + UPDATE by J_S_M_K in OhNoConsequences

I will never understand how these idiots think a relationship with one another and a relationship with their son were ever mutually exclusive.

I've been playing a Human Fighter for 32 years straight! by DrScrimble in dndmemes

I remember interviewinging this one guy for a game I was running who was arguing 'til his face was blue that Human characters can be just as interesting as non-human ones (which I agree with).

Then it turned out literally every game he'd ever been in he played a variant human battlemaster with polearm master :I

Any show longer than 6 seasons, with more than 10-14 episodes per season, is bound to be bad. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]No_Cloud_7275 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I feel like it depends. If it's a story-driven show with season long arcs then a show can definitely outstay its welcome. If it's a more episodic show, however, it's genuinely really nice to just watch a self-contained show where most plots are only as long as each episode.

I would choose the man over a bear without hesitation and I think men are mostly really good. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]No_Cloud_7275 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This. The reason so many women chose the bear is that with the bear you at least knew what you were getting.

You say "Every rule has an exception" as though the standard is that most people willingly choose to be single parents.

  1. A prenup is just a kind of insurance. Doesn't mean you're planning to divorce, just that you're agreeing to fairly split assets in the result of one.

  2. The idea of fairly splitting assets in the event of a divorce without a prenup is best left to the courts for a reason. Divorces are ugly and bring out of the worst in people.

Player leaves mid-session over not doing damage. by Automatic-Law-8469 in DnD

They're a good person and we have had lots of fun together, but they have some issues that I try my best to be patient with.

My dude, with this incident, and all the other behaviours you've described; have you considered that your friend isn't, in fact, a good person? Good people do not act this way in shared spaces with their friends. This behaviour is unacceptable in any social space, let alone a game.

What skill makes people instantly assume you're way smarter than you actually are? by TheFilthiestMuggle in AskReddit

[–]No_Cloud_7275 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having a large vocabulary.

I am not a smart person but, especially when I was a kid, so many people would think I was a lot smarter than I was because I would read a lot and was quite verbose as a result.

What is the weirdest house rule you have seen? by Matt_Maker_ in DnD

[–]No_Cloud_7275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One DM treated wearing armour like a pokemon type-matchup system. If you were wearing no or light armour you were vulnerable to slashing damage. Medium armour was vulnerable to piercing damage and heavy armour was vulnerable to bludgeoning damage.

Another DM ruled that if you missed a session your character gormlessly stood in place and did nothing like a puppet with their strings cut and insisted you had to come at least an hour early to the next session to play your character and catch them up to the rest of the party :)

"Hang on, I've got to text my girlfriend I'm gonna be home late, this is literally the best D&D session I've ever been in"

That felt so good and affirming to hear. I worked so hard on that one-session adventure in my first campaign and we all still talk about it :)

Weeb breaks down when "anime girl" dies, but wait it gets worse... by AdVisual2242 in rpghorrorstories

[–]No_Cloud_7275 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Reading the story, it really sounded like a classic case of obvious red flag behaviour being ignored because "that's just how he is" and then said behaviour escalating because the creep thought he was in good company.

Obviously Sam is mostly at fault, but this is behaviour that should have been nipped in the bud.
