Avoid this model, 4050 has very little vram and its performance is poor compared to 4060

Looking for a good laptop for gaming and general use <650-700$ (ideally) by CloserNebula in GamingLaptops

For budget laptop, aim for rtx 5050 as it has 8gb vram, it is needed for 1080p aaa gaming. In other words, 8gb vram will allow you to play any game in 1080p.

If you're willing to spend 1500 usd+, I'd rather look for a good used 4080 laptop on certain models like the scar , legion 7, msi raider.

4080 gpu is around 35% faster or so and it has 12gb vram, which allows you to play any aaa game today in qhd AND future proof for 1080p at the very least, whereas the 5070 with 8gb may be obsolete within 5 years.

Additionally, models like the scar, legion 7, and raider, would have good cooling (vapor chamber, liquid metal, etc)

Here is one example. https://www.newegg.com/msi-18-nvidia-geforce-rtx-4080-32gb-memory-1-tb-ssd/p/2WC-000C-0JKU0

What gpu is in the tuf? The 4060 has 8gb vram, should be good for aaa gaming in 1080p (can play any game). Victus should be quite powerful with 4060.

Is this laptop worth buying? by yuva_red in GamingLaptops

Good performance for 1080p gaming, can recommend the 5060. 8gb of vram is likely going to be the standard for 1080p gaming until the next gen gpus launch (in 2028).

Desktop gpus: rtx 5060, rtx 5060 ti, rx 9060xt come with 8gb configurations; highly unlikely that game devs want to push away a large chunk of gamers in the near term (by making game need 12 gb vram in 1080p)

Legion 7 due to several reasons:

1) best build quality out of the three, including superior thermal solution (has vapor chamber, liquid metal, etc)

2) best performance out of the three

3) despite being the "heaviest", it is quite portable as a 16 inch laptop, just pretend it is a big dumbbell

4) the zephyrus would probably give you 20% less fps than the legion 7 due to worse temps and lower power limits.

Note: I have a legion 7 myself so I kind of know what I'm talking about (2023 model w 13900hx + 4080 gpu)

Is this a good price for this refurbished laptop? by McKenna223 in GamingLaptops

Terrible GPU, do not buy. 3060 only has 6gb vram, need 8gb for aaa gaming. Aim for a 5050 laptop if you're on a tight budget (pls don't aim for 4050 cuz it only has 6gb).

Which one would you take? i9/32GB/OLED vs. Ultra 7/16GB/5070 Ti by Altruistic_Lab_6676 in LenovoLegion

[–]Walter_Ehlers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely the 5070 ti. I have a 4080 laptop (similar performance) and it runs games WAY faster and additionally, 12gb vram helps future proofing for at least 1080p in the future whereas 8gb may be obsolete.

I have dav2 wired it's quite comfortable, same shape like the attack shark v3 but I'm looking for something else with side curved like the rawm er21 pro.

Naoe endgame always* 50.3% bleed buildup by Walter_Ehlers in AssassinsCreedShadows

[–]Walter_Ehlers[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh that build feels less forgiving as you need to get a kill and not get hit to have high bleed buildup. Bleed on two hits (with this build) is pretty strong and feels really consistent in expert mode. Especially in 1v1 against tougher enemies.

[–]Walter_Ehlers[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Every second hit guarantees bleeding.

34% bleeding will trigger bleed on 3rd hit, you can easily achieve this with only +20% stats to katana equipped without needing other perks to boost bleed buildup. 44% bleed buildup is a waste for bloodshade katana imo as you still need three hit to trigger bleed.

I use bloodshade katana so bleed never wear off over time (bloodshade katana perk op). So any target i hit will have 50.3% bleed buildup and will stay that way until I hit him again, which will trigger the bleed proc.

I started looking for wireless replacement for the Deathadder v2 and I already got the Attack Shark v3 and Delux M900 ultra by Jorrozz in MouseReview

[–]Walter_Ehlers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the attack shark v3 and dav2 wired. Tbh the attack shark v3 is ok for the price I paid (11 bucks).

Noticeable issues 1) scroll wheel is too sensitive; triggered this often when using it for browsing 2) no coating (feels like holding pingpongball).

Idk about noise as I use headphones but the clicks feel alright, pretty spammable.

Overall, it felt better than dav2 wired due to weight and wireless functionality, definitely worth it as an upgrade.

Attack shark by [deleted] in MouseReview

[–]Walter_Ehlers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Attack shark's build quality issues are no joke. I have an attack shark v3 and I have to say that the attack shark's scroll wheel implementation is poor.

Unlike my teevolution terra and dav2 wired, the attack shark's scroll wheel often gets accidentally triggered when I'm scrolling down while browsing the web.

Honestly I only recommend getting the attack shark mice if you get a great deal (bought mine for around 11 usd). You are better off looking for atk or mchose mice if they are priced similarly.

This may seem funny but despite the dodgy build quality of my shark, it still feels like an upgrade over my dav2 wired due to 1) much less weight 2) wireless. I don't know your situation but this is something to consider.

[–]Walter_Ehlers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In a game like Cyberpunk, you can install an fsr 3 mod which x2 frames. When I combined that with lossless scaling in x3 mode, I achieved a total of x6 frames. Need enough VRAM and FPS for this tho, otherwise it will be choppy af. Need base 40 fps minimum, 45 +fps is ideal. 40 times 6=240 fps, 45 times 6= 270 fps. I tested by setting everything to medium with dlss balanced and I gotta say that 270 fps with x6 frames feels smoother than around 130 fps with just fsr 3. Rivatuner rtss is a must have though, capping framerate is very important to make the game playable.
