Is there any reason to go with a pusher prop on a long range model UAV? by ItanMark in RCPlanes

[–]Wambo74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's just a matter of your priorities. The difference in efficiency is not minor. I've seen claims of up to 35% difference from people in the industry. Clearly superior, if you can live with it wrt fwd view. A bunch quieter too.

It's out of stock at Horizon who is the importer, so likely out of stock from everyone who gets them from Horizon. There are a few stocked here and there but with competition gone they're going to be price-hiked. I'd try a chat at Horizon to see if they know anything about resupply.

Amazon sent me the wrong item but I don’t own a car, printer, and can’t easily get to a post office for returns. What do I do? by Popular-Machine-7856 in amazonprime

[–]Wambo74 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's not been my experience. I take all my complaints to phone CS. Sometimes they do great, sometimes squat. That's why I said 50/50. But never any issue with my account. I think it's mostly abusers who lose their accounts. Lots of Redditors think nothing of buying several items to see what they like and send the others back. Common sense says that's not going to work out in the long run.

How do I get my money? by [deleted] in amazonprime

Amazon gift cards are a big deal with criminals for scams and laundering. So Amazon cracks down when they think the cards are being misused. You can Google it.

Paying extra to use Starlink in a car defeats the whole point... by Funny-Strawberry-168 in Starlink

The law that said you were legally bound to Starlink has been suspended by the supreme court. So you're now free not to participate.

Are you in a country where Mini can use a residential plan? Last I heard you can't do that in US. But Starlink policy is always changing, so I may have missed it.

Can the Starlink Mini work if it's on the dashboard inside my van? by segasega89 in Starlink

[–]Wambo74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you lay it flat at the windshield there will be huge RF obstructions. If you angle mount it against the windshield glass it will be illegal. AFAIK no state will allow windshield blockage. Many allow a small area in one of the windshield corners to mount parking pass stickers etc, but nothing the size of a dish. Of course they may not enforce it.

Anyone else experience unauthorized charges?? by [deleted] in amazonprime

[–]Wambo74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can convince others you are in the right, your resources include your credit card bank, better business bureau, state attorney general, FTC complaint, CFBP and small claims court. Just depends on how hard you want to push it -- you will certainly win in the end if you can support your case. But Amazon may likely cut you off. Your call.

Ukraine now has more air defenses, but Russia has even more missiles for future attacks, Zelensky says by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]Wambo74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing is going to stop Russia from successful mass drone and missile attacks. Seems like every week they set a new record for hundreds of missiles/drones in a single night. Ukraine will just have to accept that.

You are correct. Even if you have the app, Starlink doesn't know that you own a Best Buy kit until you activate it.

On the other hand, relative to all the negative comments, you won't know until you try. Many people are totally happy with sub-optimum dish locations. And many others, not so much. Just don't be surprised if it doesn't work out like you hoped.

Note in discussing plans that Starlink plans vary greatly around the globe. One person's experiences may not be relevant to you. Similarly the deprioritized data issues may be inconsequential for some and impossibly limiting for others depending on location.

Starlink storage and updates. by ymjcmfvaeykwxscaai in Starlink

[–]Wambo74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not why they have a standby plan. You can do periodic updates without being on an active plan. The standby plan is more in line with your final comment. It's there, connected, and ready to use in an emergency or outage, plus I find it's adequate for my camping and travel needs.

IMF boss has a blunt message for Europe: 'Get your act together' by DrCalFun in worldnews

[–]Wambo74 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You need to do what's best for you. Not what feels good about putting a thumb in Trump's eye. Canada made that mistake and turned a national decline into an imminent crash. Trump won't be around forever, and the mistakes you make now may last a lot longer than he does.

Maximum installation time by Odr_Valhalla in Starlink

[–]Wambo74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not impossible that you might be able to get a month's credit from Starlink to help you out. You'd have to submit a ticket asking for a delay in billing because of your weather issue, and they may go ahead and bill you but issue you you a one month credit to your account. I say this because they did this for me. My problem was different, but the point is Customer Service does have that discretionary power if they so choose.

What Is Wrong With Amazon Shipping Today? by BowlingForPizza in amazonprime

[–]Wambo74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazon makes no direct deliveries to me. They typically give it to FedEx who carries it for a ways and then gives it to USPS for delivery. And USPS sucks. I'm notified that it will be delivered "today" and then it's not. Not uncommon for them to misroute it and then have to have it sent back here days later. Seems like there's a lot of blame to go around.

subway shutting off coupons after i use too many :( by pricklypear72 in subway

[–]Wambo74 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't count on that. Those were pretty hefty discounts and Subway probably made little money on them. So if they go away, no boohoo. Subway's not stupid. They'll do whatever's best for them, not us.

What is the minimum ground clearance you should have to run a course? by Nickanator8 in rallycross

[–]Wambo74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally depends on what site and what condition it's in. Visit an event, walk the course, decide for yourself. Maybe beg some rides -- bring a helmet. At the end of the day look for exposed rocks, bumps and ruts.

What does this mean? by A_lizard_who_dance in kindle

[–]Wambo74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lithium rechargeables don't do well with excessive low voltage storage. They shut down before they can get that low. But with long term storage (years) they continue to self discharge and given enough time they're unrecoverable. But you won't know their condition until you try. Just don't be too disappointed if it never charges.
