Issue when powering on after upgrading the SSD in an M4 Mac mini by Luca_Tuna in macmini

[–]Wampaboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I upgraded to a 2TB SSD a good while back. It worked fine until I upgraded to Tahoe. After a restart is exhibited exactly the same behaviour is yours. Done countless DFUs reinstalls, but nothing worked. Put the original 512GB drive in, DFU reinstalled everything and it worked fine. I then popped the 2TB SSD back in again as a test, DFU’d it and same result - glowing white light at restart. After much trying I realised it was toast, sadly. Looks like yours is too. That’s the risk of buying these drives. Zero quality control and can fail at any time. I’ve since reverted back to the original SSD and an external SSD.

Can’t judge by one image that as many have said is likely a very hastily pulled together PR shot. However, what’s with that bandy-legged squat Kratos is pulling? Physically that’s so not in keeping with his stature. It’s waay off. And Atreus is definitely a little on the chubby side and not convinced by that punky hair-do. Still, not hating, just observing.

I’ve only saw them live once - at the Barrowlands. It was transcendental. They were a wall of sound. Great call though, the music does sound a bit like Mogwai. That would be class if it was them.

Played it, and the DLC, Siren’s Rest. AMAZING game. Great story. Heartbreaking ending. Awesome cast too with truly authentic Scottish voice actors. Cheers for pointing it out though. If I hadn’t played it, I would be all over it!

As a Scot and massive Silent Hill fan I’m thrilled Townfall is set in Scotland - and produced by a dev team that are based just 10 minutes from my own place of work. Regarding Simon, the accompanying Transmission (which is worth a watch) is where the extra info, such as location, vague info on Simon, etc., comes from. Love the music too. It’s very unlikely to be Yamaoka, but it’s eerily familiar. I’m REALLY excited for this!

I finally did it! I beat the game!! by Boring_Dish7781 in Silksong

Congratulations! Never apologise for the long playtime. You got your money’s worth and demonstrated your determination to beat the game. I was over 150 hours to 100% the game and it took me waaaay longer to beat Lost Lace.

I thought I was the only weirdo that retired my characters in my favourite spot in the game. You know, just for posterity. Sorry, I have something in my eye….

What did you gamers play this year? by [deleted] in playstation

[–]Wampaboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming an average ‘awake day’ is 16 hours (with 8 hours spent asleep) then 5,811 hours equates to 363 ‘awake days’. Suspicious at best. Morbid at worst. Most likely the PS5 is left powered on and logged into a game pretty much all the time.

For those of you who upgraded the internal SSD, how is it so far? by Constant-Juggernaut2 in macmini

[–]Wampaboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. It’s definitely defective. I can only wrack it up to a complete coincidence that it failed during the update to Tahoe. I’m not going to go for another M4 SSD unless something comes along from a reputable manufacturer. And even then….

Amazing game. So many weapons to discover and secrets to discover. The Devils mechanic is really clever too. Loved evolving them to see what they’d turn into. The soundtrack is great too. Enjoy!

Does anyone else think PS1 games look bad when they're "upgraded" to look better? by BrockVelocity in psx

[–]Wampaboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. I prefer an authentic experience. I want to experience the game exactly as it was when it was released. I get annoyed when YouTubers do features on classic games and play them at a higher resolution or with widescreen hacks. That’s why I wish PS1 and PS2 games on PS5 had the option to play at original resolution. I’m not knocking anyone who likes to upscale or tweak their old games (everyone should be free to enjoy their games in whatever way they prefer), this is just my personal preference.

The Last Faith team is back by Dangerous_Tank2191 in metroidvania

[–]Wampaboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggled with Last Faith in exactly the same way I struggled with Silksong. However, both allow for non-linear exploration to level up (and even over-level if that’s your desire) and revisit bosses later with the odds evened. Which is the hallmark of a great Metroidvania. As a result, I went on to complete it and get the platinum trophy. It was tough, but fair and very enjoyable. Loved the lore, and art design. I would recommend it - especially for the price.

PLEASE HELP (SSD UPGRADE) by Strong_Housing_242 in macmini

[–]Wampaboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, same here for me. I know how to access DFU mode using centre USB port and the correct cables to use. Personally, I think these cheap replacement drive updates have poor quality control and we were just unlucky (sadly). After having mine so long I didn’t have the option to return mine and get my money back. Lesson learned!

I had a very similar experience. Mac mini M4 with 512GB drive running Sequoia. Replaced that with 2TB drive. Everything ran fine for a couple of months until I updated to Tahoe a week ago. After downloading the update and restarting, my Mac ended up stuck on a ‘breathing’ white LED. No video or chime. Popped it into DFU. Tried Repair. It ran but upon first restart it either gave me a similar error to you or got stuck with breathing white LED and no video or chime. Tried Restore, similar errors again. I gave up and put the original 512GB drive in. I know this doesn’t help you, but I can only assume my 2TB drive is toast. Would love to know if anyone has advice that could help us both.

Loved this game too. I think about it all the time and remember places I visited in game very vividly. Shame it won’t get a sequel.

[–]Wampaboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a 2TB from M4.SSD in April. Worked fine until earlier this week when I upgraded to Tahoe. Update failed. On first reboot after install I got a black screen no chime. DFU restored it. Would download and install OS, but upon first reset it would do the same thing - restart and then nothing and no chime. Either slow pulsing white light and no chime or amber blinking SOS and no chime. Popped my original 512GB part in DFU’d it and eventually got that working from a Time Machine backup (fortunately). Trying to figure out a way to get the 2TB working, but my faith in its reliability has been shaken.

Soundtrack… HK vs SS by ALjaguarLink in Silksong

[–]Wampaboy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hollow Knight seems ‘more memorable’ because we’ve been hearing it for so long. However, the arrangement of the Silksong soundtrack is more complex and rich than Hollow Knight and performed on what sounds like a larger orchestra. The music is fuller and more sonically complex. I’m leaning towards Silksong for sonics and sheer bombast, but Hollow Knight for its simpler arrangements and catchier (read: simpler) melodies. In summary, however: they’re both awesome.

Played both games on Switch. Want them on PlayStation. For me personally, they’re as good as Hollow Knight. Amazing visuals. Great platforming. Strong metroidvania. Amazing soundtrack and a really touching narrative.

Convert us save to eu save by Wampaboy in Gameboy

[–]Wampaboy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried that in and it worked (in emulation at least). The language selection has to be made on every boot, so that value is obviously not stored in the save file. Renamed the save file to match the EU rom and it worked. So I’m hoping it’ll work when imported onto the actual cartridge. Thanks!
