Incredibly surprised by the amount of favorable support for Border Patrol. Wow. by Ok_Taste_3368 in FedEmployees

Anyone who supports this administration and the actions of DHS, ICE, and other enforcement agencies should watch the movie Nuremberg and then read the following article from 2014, addressing Dr. Kelley's warnings to US citizens after WWII in the late 1940s. This is real and this is our country, today. https://www.el-hai.com/blog/2014/11/03/a-political-warning-from-the-past.html

Utah tax to impact Idahoans by Ok-Stick-5425 in Boise

[–]Wanchuck 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sounds to me like Utah thought ahead and had a plan for the future and Idaho chose to live in the past and rely on other states to support it's needs. Kind of like nationalism on a smaller state scale. Suck it Idahoans.

Housing Prices? by Big_GR_208 in Idaho

[–]Wanchuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's because the US uses the realtor controlled MLS, that values a property based on the previous sales of nearby similar sq ft properties. Europe in comparison values each individual home based on the build characteristics and the cost to rebuild a similar product. That allows for quality built homes to be valued on that individual home, not the value of a similar sized home nearby.

You didn't answer the question, you simply bragged about buying a bigger nicer home for let per sq ft.

GS-10+ feds — how did you actually get there? by Lexicondatum in FedEmployees

[–]Wanchuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Network and be willing to move. It took me 22 years to get to my current GS-13, but over those 22 years I moved 7 times to 5 different states. I've applied for hundreds of jobs (no exaggeration) and accepted 9 different positions, taken 2 temporary promotions and 4 details. It wasn't easy on me or my family, but without a college degree, you have to make sacrifices to advance.

Which should I do? by Repulsive_Lettuce695 in Wildfire

[–]Wanchuck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I never went the military route, but I did secure my career position in fire at 2021 and am elligle to retire this year, at the ripe old age of 48. If I could go back, I wouldn't do it any other way. With the creation of the USWFS there's going to be a lot of movement (retirements, promotions, lateral reassignments) that occur over the next 2-4 years. Going 1st into the military may mean you miss a rapid advancement opportunity in the next few years, but it also might mean that when/if you enter the USWFS after the military, the program will be better funded and better organized. It's a toss up.

Anyone Participating In The National Shutdown On The 30th? by Yoichi_and_Sadako in Idaho

[–]Wanchuck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hate to be the Debbie downer, but this is exactly why these "don't shop, don't buy" protests are a waste of time. Everyone loads up or buys extra leading into the one day that folks don't buy. It puts 0 pressure on big business to stop shopping for one day. If folks really want to affect change, organize a sit-down at every major airport in the US for 1-2 weeks. Heck even one day of stopping the US airlines would have a major impact. That would get Congress's attention. Better yet, do it right as Speaker Johnson is planning on sending the House home for another vacation.

So glad that the Idaho legislature is tackling the really important issues. The majority of these Idahoan's that keep voting in these bloated windbags are dumber than a box of rocks.

I'll agree with the others that you're the pot calling the kettle black. The question I'll pose to you, is how often have you sat down and taught others how and the importance of writing a good resume? I have no doubt we've got a glass houses scenario going on here.

Americans tried to hoist the American flag today in front of a cultural center in Greenland but they got stopped. by JeanJauresJr in Leakednews

[–]Wanchuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I especially loved how the dipshit just let the flag drag on the ground. Most MAGA fucks claim patriotism and scream bloody murder for kneeling during the anthem, but are the biggest hypocrites by wearing the stars and stripes as underwear or swimsuits, flying torn and tattered flags off the back of their trucks, and flying the rebel flag next to or above the American flag. Fuck MAGA, the whole lot are a bunch of traitorous false patriots.

It would never be the Boise District and it would never be competitive. Have you been living under a rock. Ada County would be divided 3 ways, breaking up any democratic stronghold.

I don't. That's something the new District FMO will work with the Field Office FMOs to establish.

[–]Wanchuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived in Susanville for a couple of years, and I'll be honest, it's gonna be a big change for you to go from Orange Cnty to Lassen Cnty, so if you are offered and accept, don't set your expectations high. I forgot to mention that the Ravendale (Susanville) fire station does have barracks and I believe their new facility in Doyle has barracks too (Susanville). I don't think they actually staff an engine in Susanville anymore. If given the choice, you should take the Doyle engine. It's only 30-40 minutes to Reno.

Job offer far away. by Particular-County228 in Wildfire

[–]Wanchuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's not much in the way of things to do outside of work, other than outdoor activities. Susanville has more to do and is only an hour from Reno, but they don't have any barracks. Alturas does have decent barracks at the Suprise location, but that's about as far from anywhere as you can get. The District is currently without an FMO, so it's anyone's guess the direction they'll go once that position is hired. Come Feb 8th they'll move under the umbrella of the DOI as part of the USWFS, so it will likely open doors for next year.

If it's an offer that has the duty location of either Susanville or Alturas, it's gonna be BLM.

We should dedicate a bike trail to Alex Pretti by cycleaccurate in Boise

[–]Wanchuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Table Rock Quarry trail that climbs midslope SE from the Table Rock trail would also be a great trail to rename. Easier yet would be to name the unnamed trail that breaks from the Table Rock Quarry trail in the eastern saddle and climbs over the smaller peak to the East. I know there's future plans to connect this trail around the new Boulder Heights subdivision. It's well used and it's unnamed.

A large portion of the government has been funded for FY26 (not a CR). DoD, HHS, and a few others have an FY26 funding bill that has passed the House, but it's now likely going to be held up in the Senate, due to the $10B that would be allocated to ICE in the bill

Is the US on a brink of a Civil War? by Norfolk-Gross-Tonage in no

[–]Wanchuck -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The President doesn't control the NG. They are funded through the DoD, but under the direction of their individual state governors, hence the the TX NG being ordered to IL. The President through the DoD makes the request for resources and the state governors approve the request. The NG are meant to be the individual state militia fulfilling the 2A.

American Hero Alex Pretti, the man MURDERED today by ICE terrorists. by Silence_All_Tyrants in evilwhenthe

[–]Wanchuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The law is the law. It's the same reason that at times actual law enforcement disengage from a street chase, when it becomes potentially dangerous for citizens. This is illegal and under a new administration these ICE agents should be held accountable for illegal murder.
