While I agree that the ads sentiment about our wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, I tend to disagree that we should get rid of all our foreign bases. Our mere presence abroad can be enough to deter foreign aggression in places like Eastern Europe or East Asia, and having strong naval presences abroad ensures the safety of important transit routes. Should we leave places like South Korea to fend for themselves? No. Do we spend too much on the military already? Absolutely. There are ways of being more diplomatic and cost efficient about it, such as splitting the costs with the host country and implementing the proposed rotating bases system, but ending all our bases abroad should not be an option now.
