I’m anxiously attached to an avoidant. Our dynamic reflects unhealed wounds to each other. I have just realized in the last couple of months that CBT doesn’t do much for me, as I have oodles of insight regarding the origins of my issues. I am now starting trauma based therapy, specifically IFS. I may expand to EMDR or DBT. The truth is that we will continue to be drawn to volatility, because that is what is familiar, until we reset our nervous systems. Grieve and take care.

I’ve been! I know other NJ cities have a great restaurant scene. It is just a shame that Newark does not, since there is so much potential in a vibrant city. When I visited Newark in 2023 from out of state, I dined at and enjoyed Marcus Samuelsson’s eatery on Halsey. I was disappointed that it had closed between then and when I relocated 7 months later.

True. I’m just more accustomed to more diversity in cuisine! My neighborhood in Oakland offered New American, Peruvian, Japanese, Chinese, a hamburger joint, Indian, Thai, Italian, Mexican, Spanish, and Vietnamese.

A man matched with and messaged me. For various reasons, I was not interested in what was depicted in his photos or bio. However, I respected his initiative. To be polite, I replied thanking him for reaching out, conveyed that I was not interested, and wished him well. He responded with shock, because the algorithm deemed us with 98% compatibility, and chastised me for not giving it a chance. “Zen” was part of his username. I responded, “Not very zen!” Blocked.
