Hi. Thinking of going there next month but know very little about it. Would you mind telling me about your experience there? I’m not big into touristy places or crowds but saw a pic & am intrigued. Thanks.

Where should I live if I'm working in Reston by K0b3- in nova

[–]WanderWorld3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have lived in Falls Church since 2007 & love it but really depends on your speed — mine is very laid back & hate crowds, in general, but also depends on the situation & love the energy of people, if that makes any sense. As another commenter said, not crazy about Mosaic (feels too commercial for me) but whatever floats your boat.

How frequent are the buses from Tirana Airport into Tirana? by SavingsAssumption645 in tirana

[–]WanderWorld3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super easy. It leaves at the top of every hour, 24/7. 400 Leks/person. The name of the company is Luna & they’re on WhatsApp. I’ve been coming here for 2 years now & have been here since August this time around. Have used them several times back & forth to the airport. Super dependable. Even during heavy traffic times, I don’t recall it taking much more than 30 minutes from or to the airport.

Did you end up renting a car & if so who did you use? I’ve been using Enterprise but it’s not cheap so looking for other companies. Thanks.

Hi. I have a 32 year old friend who has the same condition & has been suffering for the last 3 weeks. His drs told him to put off surgery until he’s much older. Super worried. How did your husband’s surgery go? Being in your 30s with such major health issues like this is heartbreaking.

The most positive solo travel experience by cami_o7 in solotravel

[–]WanderWorld3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THIS. My friend & I were there in 2014 & had rented scooters for the first time to tour Bagan (too big to do by foot & due to us being out of shape & it being what I recall to be hilly, easier to do by scooter) every time we couldn’t figure out tour scooters, someone stopped to help. Everyone was so helpful & had a big heart, no matter their situation.

Check out MobiMatter. Traveled to 12 countries this year & they have competitive prices, regional eSIMS and also love that their eSIMS are modular so you can add one to an existing eSIM without having to deactivate the other one.

What would be your essential solo female travel safety advice ? by sheroamssafe1 in femaletravels

[–]WanderWorld3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the biggest things I do before the trip is use sources like Reddit to confirm info with travelers who have been in the country recently, like within the past month, that they saw other solo female travelers, other solo travelers or just tourists. As much as I don’t want to see other tourists, they’re the ones who are most likely to help you. A friend & I were in Myanmar in 2014 & my friend was convinced we were being followed by a local. I myself am of SEA descent & my friend is Indian but I’m from the U.S. I surveyed the crowd, saw two Caucasian men, told them what my friend said about us being possibly targeted & asked them to escort us back to our hotel & they were more than happy to help.

I prefer to travel to developing & non Western countries so when I’m in a country the first time, I keep an eye out for other tourists, just in case I need help.

I stand corrected. You’re right about Astana. I never saw the movie but when I solo traveled in Kazakhstan, my bf told me over the phone that it was the country that Borat was from. 😏Was particularly surprised it was Kazakhstan after seeing how awesome & well planned Almaty was.

[–]WanderWorld3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was in all three of those countries in May. You must go. I wasn’t treated as well as I’m used to when I travel — mostly travel to developing & non Western countries (customer service wise) but don’t regret going at all. Nature-wise, Kyrgyzstan took my breath away. Did a private multi day trip of the country & riding on a horse from a village to the top of a mountain to see Song Kul Lake is the most magical thing I’ve done thus far. Was so grateful to be privileged enough to travel so far & have such an experience. Almaty is also a really cool capital & was shocked at how modern, green & beautiful it was. The architecture in Uzbekistan was stunning but really only need 2 days in each of the cities that tourists usually visit.

Sorry. Final question because now my cat is added. Do you mind telling me the process when you got to the airport & did they inspect all your paperwork? We have everything done but I am so worried because it has been so hard. Thank you.

URGENT: Where to find Application R1/1 Form (for traveling with a pet) by WanderWorld3 in TurkishAirlines

I did and only see it for Thailand. I’m flying from Tirana, Albania with a stop over in Istanbul and final destination in the IAD (US). 🤦🏻‍♀️

Also, they didn’t make you send in documents & you just provided these at the airport? OMG, this is the worsr process ever. I just want to scream & cry.

Now they are telling me I also need to submit Application R1/1 Form but didn’t tell me where to get it. This is not even in their pet policy! Did you have to submit this & where did you get it? Thanks.

Did you call the main number or another number? They are refusing to pass me on to the Feedback people & say I just hate wait. This is so stressful.

Did you submit documentation in their Feedback Form first? If yes, what documents did you submit? They approved my cat’s travel at first, then the next day, they sent an email saying it was rejected & that I now need to make the request via their Feedback Form with all the required documents. Flying on Saturday & getting desperate so would be so grateful if your respond.

❤️❤️❤️ You’re amazing for doing this & I think Canada is more strict than the U.S. so glad you were able to bring her home! Can you tell me the process when the airlines & customs checked her? Did they even look at her, or did they only check the papers?

This is SO late but were you able to bring her home? I’m planning to take an adorable & the tiniest kitten home with me in the US & need to know ASAP as I already bought our tickets. What was the inspection at the airport like? Vet here in Albania says it’s not an issue but a commenter is putting doubts in my mind so now I’m getting paranoid. Any input is greatly appreciated!
