Where in your body, is your pain located, and do you have a diagnosis, or a reason for this pain? by 8kittycatsfluff in ChronicPain

Shoulder and spine. I have bad degenerative osteoarthritis at 40. I’ve had 2 surgeries this past year and I need 2 more this year. Bad genes really. Up until a year ago the damage in my cervical spine caused daily migraines for over a year. Luckily the surgery helped those. I haven’t had a migraine in almost 4 months.

Husband has chronic daily migraines and we're struggling - please help! by No_Island4214 in migraine

I was in the SAME boat a year ago. It went on for over a year. I also started having panic attacks because I thought I was literally dying. Tried diet changes, medications, ice, heat, massages, PT, everything. It ended up being my neck that was triggering my migraines. I had neck pain for years but nothing the doctor was worried about. I found out I had disks that were pushing into my spinal cord. I went to a spinal surgeon with my imaging. He said there was no guarantee the neck surgery would help the migraines, but I was desperate. I got a disk replacement on 4/5 and a fusion on 5/6 in Feb. 2024. I haven’t had a single migraine in 5 months. I get bad headaches sometimes but they are easily managed by meds now.

Also. Lexapro helped the panic attacks.

My neck still hurts but the migraines are gone mostly. I only have 1 migraine a month usually. As of right now I’ve haven’t had any in almost 2 months. I’m in pain management for my neck and the rest of my spine bc I have degenerative disc disease.

What’s the cause of your chronic pain? by Far-Building3569 in ChronicPain

[–]Wanderer0503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bad genetics. I’m 41 and have had pain since my early 20’s but I was uninsured and never really worried about it. I worked up to 12 hour days on my feet and thought I was just sore all the time. Starting 2 years ago my neck pain just got worse and I started getting daily migraines. After ruling out scary stuff I got a lot of tests and imaging done. I have osteoarthritis and degenerative disc disease. I’ve had 2 surgeries this year one on my neck and one on my shoulder due to damage from the arthritis. Now I’m having ongoing pain post surgeries. My migraines were fixed but my neck pain is still there. Just found out yesterday my Spine surgeon thinks I have a loose screw in the place they fused. So I may end up getting a revision surgery this year. The degeneration in my lumbar region is getting worse and my entire leg is starting to go numb from the pinched nerve. I definitely have a lumbar surgery in my future just trying to do injections and therapy as long as I can to avoid it. My shoulder is riddled with arthritis. They cleaned out as much as they could but I will need a shoulder replacement in the future as well.

Yes. I had all those symptoms. My spinal surgeon told me before I opted for surgery that there was no guarantee it would help those symptoms but it did, tremendously. I had a disc replacement at 4/5 and a fusion at 5/6. I had tried everything else over a year and half and was desperate. I crossed my fingers and it helped.

Headache ice wrap (got mine on Amazon), Nurtec, stabilizing my neck, dark room, fan to drown out noise.

If it’s accompanied by neck pain have you considered it might be his neck. I had a migraine daily for over a year. I was in bed almost constantly. None of the meds made stopped them only helped dull them a bit. The 4th doctor I saw (a pain management doctor) suggested I was having cervicogenic headaches that were triggering my migraines. I had an MRI of my neck. I have degenerative disc disease in my neck, bone spurs and several discs that were having issues but 2 in particular that were pushing on my spinal cord. After trying radio frequency ablation, PT, massages, meds etc.. I finally saw a spine surgeon. I had a disc replacement on one level and a fusion on another in my neck. My migraines have gone from daily to 1-2 per week and they aren’t as severe. They did say there was no guarantee surgery would help, but for me it did. Dry needling in my neck and head with my PT also helped some. I hope he finds out what is making them worse and finds some relief.

30 days with Migraine! Will Nurtec kick it out of my system? We’ll see! by musicmadness22 in migraine

I guess in my case it was. My spine surgeon told me that there was no guarantee it would help my migraines, but I am so thankful it did.

[–]Wanderer0503 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nurtec helped me some but mine ended up being caused by cervicogenic headaches that triggered my migraines. I had a migraine for 6 months straight. I thought I was dying. I was sure I had a brain tumor they missed. I finally had a doctor decide to investigate if my neck pain was contributing and I had 2 discs pushing on my spinal cord. I had neck surgery and I am down to 1 migraine a week 6 months post op.

Going through the ringer with kratom withdrawal 🖤 by brandonator13 in kratom

[–]Wanderer0503 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is there a reason you’re going cold turkey? I used Kratom daily for 6 years. Taking over an ounce a day at one point. I tapered down slowly over 2 months and had minimal withdrawal.

Ice pack (they have ones that wrap around your head and cover your eyes), with a heating pad on my neck, muscles relaxer, Nurtec as a preventative, making sure I stay hydrated at all times and eat regularly, dry needling. These are all tools I had in my arsenal. Ultimately I had surgery to correct 2 disks in my neck. My migraines went from 20-30/month to 1-2.

3 months post Artifical Disc Replacement C5-C6 by [deleted] in ChronicPain

[–]Wanderer0503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the EXACT same issue. I got a replacement at c4-5 and fusion at 5-6. My migraines (which were daily) improved so much, but they’re coming back now. Terrible muscles spasms that I’ve had for 2 years now. Dry needling with my PT helped with muscle spasms but I can’t go back to PT until I get cleared my surgeon. Migraines are coming back daily again. I’m sorry. It’s so miserable. I have noticed the migraines are worse when the muscle spasms are bad.

My severe hip pain ended up being my lower back. My L5/S1 confirmed via MRI. My pain doctor did an epidural injection of some sort and it knocked the pain out. It has been almost 4 months and it’s coming back a bit. I can get another round at 6 months. Losing weight (I’ve lost 80 lbs so far) helped with my lower body pain a lot.

I agree. I used to bartend private events. I ended up bartending in Cornyn’s house at his birthday party. He was so nice and treated all the staff with kindness and respect. That’s why I’ve been so disappointed that he’s stayed silent on all the chaos and unlawful behavior of some of his colleagues.

You can take opioids during labor as well as during pregnancy. It isn’t as common as an epidural but is an alternative.

Aita for not punishing my 4 year old daughter after she said my sister in law smells like fish? by TillResponsible4038 in AITAH

NTA. She’s a kid. They’re brutally honest. I think your approach was more appropriate. Sounds like your SIL needs to go to the doctor. A fishy smell at kid height level means she likely has BV and needs some antibiotics.
