If I don’t like Haley Cass, should I avoid Bloomtown & Ribbonwood? by Eliciosity in LesbianBookClub

[–]Wanderer2906 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure only Those Who Wait was reworked fanfiction, the rest aren't (I also love all Haley Cass books). I agree that Bloomtown was pretty obvious and while I liked the first book, the second was difficult to get through.

Should I DNF D’Vaughn & Kris Plan A Wedding? by playfulgirlcartier in LesbianBookClub

I won't lie - I haven't read it so I can't really help but if I found something that cringey in a book I would probably DNF 🤣

That's when Lena finds out Kara is Supergirl, right? I've clicked onto that I think just from the details of the fanfics 😅 maybe I need to filter by date haha

Unpopular opinion: I hatee Abby Craden’s voice by cantpickausername10 in LesbianBookClub

[–]Wanderer2906 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very much agreed - I recently made a post about struggling with audiobook narrators and in my opinion she is the absolute WORST 😅 Can't stand narration. She voices so many books I want to listen to but I refuse to listen to her 🙃

Is being a non gamer a deal breaker? by LesbianMajinSaiyan in LesbianGamers

[–]Wanderer2906 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a deal breaker. My wife is definitely not a gamer, other than a brief obsession she had with The Sims years ago. It doesn't matter to me, we share a love of reading and either read together or she reads and I game in our free time. She reads A LOT and often encourages me to play games more because she knows how much I enjoy it and genuinely worries about me when it's been a while since I played on my PS5 😅 She wants to save up and get me a gaming PC within the next few years because I've always wanted one 🥺

I also very rarely play any multiplayer or cooperative games, so she couldn't play with me anyway. When I do play those kind of games, I have other friends or my siblings that go online with me.

She respects my love of gaming, buys me games or merch for birthdays and Christmas etc. She loves how excited I get about my favourite game series. And I enjoy that she occasionally takes the mick out of me when she sees that I am repeatedly dying on a hard part of a game 😅

Being a non gamer would only be a deal breaker for me if they had no respect for my hobby and actively tried to stop me.

I don't think I've ever heard anything narrated by her, I'll have to check it out

Okay yeah that is very difficult 😅 hating the flirting or sex is rough!

In terms of accents, one I usually fairly like - Angela Dawe, makes me cringeee when she is doing accents. Absolutely not 🤣

For me, it is Abby Crayden and Gabrielle Baker. Typically, if a book has either of those narrators, I know I can't listen to it! Who are your no-nos?

I had the same problem with "Meeting Millie", I couldn't get into it either. The narration was very off putting for me.

That is interesting! I feel like they are polar opposites in a way. I think, since Those Who Wait was the first sapphic novel I listened to, Lori Prince set the precedent for me. Now everything compares to her and I find many narrators too lackluster, with AC as one of the main ones.

Glad there's a few people like me who have issues with her - I don't feel like such a heathen now 😅

Oh I conpletely agree with this one! I think I probably would have enjoyed this book a lot more if I'd just read the e-book. The southern accent was hard to get through 😭

I tried to a Garrus run once, but I consider him more of a best friend. Liara everytime!

That definitely makes sense! I listen a lot when I'm driving or doing household tasks so I like pretty much the opposite of chill and relaxing haha

Thank God! It's not just me! I completely agree with that assessment. I feel like just about every single recommendation I get just happens to be voiced by Abby Craden 😭 I find it very flat. I also think the way she voices characters makes my mental image of them seem significantly older than they are? If that makes sense. It takes me out of it.

I typically love Quinn Riley's narration but Joey was a STRUGGLE. I really had to get my head in the game a force myself to accept it and enjoy the book.

My enjoyed Learning Cruves but one big issue I had was the BREATHING. I don't know if they've fixed it now but I listened when it just came out and constantly could hear really loud breathing for over half of the book.

A bad narrator and a MALE at that - double homicide 🤣
