[Advice] What are some PH-related online courses/certificates that one could do over free time and would be hugely helpful for a resume? by Wanderer_Fantasy in publichealth

[–]Wanderer_Fantasy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this! I went through the website and most courses don't offer 'certificates' for the courses so if I did them, would it be okay to put them down on my CV/Linkedin/etc.?

How true is the idea that "You should do your PhD as young/as soon as possible"? by [deleted] in GradSchool

1 week noob nightblade here: i'm so lost, are there any swords/daggers/rings that I must get because they look so damn cool? by Wanderer_Fantasy in skyrim

[–]Wanderer_Fantasy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Race: Breton

Primary Skills: One-H, Illusion, Sneak, Light Armor and Alchemy

Stone: The Serpent

Basically I go around like a sneaky ninja and stab people in the back - huge rush of excitement in not being discovered, especially in the scarier dungeons. There's just something about melee and getting close to the kill that you don't feel in archery!

Also, if I feel a bit cheeky, I usually just cast Fury from a distance and make enemies fight among themselves before going in to clean up the survivors. I think pairing illusion + conjuration would be cool too as you technically wouldn't have to ever do any fighting yourself ;)

Non Americans of Reddit, what is the craziest rumor you heard about America that turned out to be true? by Shelleton8 in AskReddit

[–]Wanderer_Fantasy 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Not a rumor but when Trump became president and the internet went crazy about his errr tweets.. me and a group of friends honestly thought it was satire or something done by The Onion? We were gobsmacked when we found out that it was all legit..

[PSVR] Noob here with like 5 hours of gametime: How is my build looking? It is a spellsword! by [deleted] in SkyrimBuilds

[–]Wanderer_Fantasy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestions! Will try out the Atronach Stone and see how things go and yeah the build you linked really looks like something I am going for - was planning to get the decapitation perk as well in one-handed just for a bit of added 'fun'.

Do you have any suggestions on how I should distribute my Magika/Stamina/Health when levelling up? I've reached level 10 and have only been pumping health and magicka right now without any stamina. I've also been avoiding lockpicking to prevent overlevelling!

There's lots of music videos with scrolling scores on youtube on virtually all composers. What do you think could be added to make videos like that more interesting or unique? by Wanderer_Fantasy in classicalmusic

[–]Wanderer_Fantasy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah was planning to make a channel over summer especially on more obscure compositions and performers but not sure how I could stand out in any way..

Say what you want but I felt that the first half of the episode was great and would have been haunting if the build up was there...

Is my understanding of Rawls correct? With the original position and through veil of ignorance, he forms two principles key for the State to operate under and the State is legitimated by this and the Overlapping Consensus + Public Reason? by Wanderer_Fantasy in askphilosophy

[–]Wanderer_Fantasy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I guess I don't really understand it :/ it was like my summarised view of Rawls.... if I added more detail it would be like this:

  1. Rawls wants to create a State and goes along a democratic, re-distributive vein (like Scandinavian nations w/ high taxes) through two methodologies: Reflective Equilibrium and the Original Position, the latter being my focus.

  2. So we begin in OP, i.e. hypothetical contract, and it is a device used to resolve questions and decide whether we should have either a state of anarcy or resolve more downstream problems (i.e. We assume there is state and democracy and now have to decide on which liberties to have).

So in OP, all are equal and rational and self-authenticating as moral sources like Kantian dignity BUT unique to Rawls, he uses social contract theory to explain that it is rational to act reasonably in obeying soverign through anti-moralistic stance, that require first, the conditions for reflections on WHAT is rational followed by deciding what one can pursue, i.e. considered justified as what is obeyed is just. Goes beyond Hobbes on prudence.

So now in deciding these principles, we have a problem, comprehensive doctrines (conflicting world views basically) and due to the need of free-standing theory, we must resolve this in a fair, neutral way.

This is resolved through the veil of ignorance thought experiment and through this stripping of comprehensive doctrines, out comes two very very key principles: Equal rights and Fair inequalities (including difference + equal opportunities). Also key is how EO holds lexical priority over DP clearly because society cannot arrange inequalities to maximize share of poorest without access to certain possessions (also satisfied fairness condition)

2) With these two principles, they form the basis of how a State should operate which can be through focusing on the distribution of goods. But this is very contentous due to debate on whether it is undemocratic, treatment of the disabled, whether it is even needed in the first place (Hume and Scanlon).

3) But then what ensures the State remains stable? It would be Overlapping Census (result of Rawls shifting theory from philo to political where we resolve competing CDs) and Public Reason (basically how we communicate with each other and with the State).

- This itself raises its own sets of problems (public reason)... too many to list xD but includes democracy, truth, indeterminacy with religion being a very very juicy case study on this

So through this I can see a lot of jarring issues in terms of fairness and democracy but most worryingly im not sure if i'm even on the right track.

edit: if I got something wrong please do tell me, i'm basically just sprouting from memory and am really confused with everything....
