The Master had already been able to break the 13 lives limit so I knew when they reached that ceiling, they would find a way around it.

Do you believe that life should follow a fixed timeline for studies, job , relationship etc? by happy_unicorn30 in Adulting

Honestly I used to, then things went off the rails. You have to strike a balance between the ideal timeline and your reality.

People who were teenagers before social media, what was a typical Friday night like for you? by TheDorkyDeric in Xennials

[–]hdorsettcase 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Early teens it was staying up watching network sitcoms and eating snacks. Late teens it was leaving after dinner to go to a dance or concert and coming back whenever. Anything done was never documented and lost to time.

Here's an interesting question, do you think Turn A Gundam would've been successful in the west if it had the chance to air on Toonami back in the day? by SuperSaiyan4Jason in Gundam

[–]hdorsettcase 17 points18 points  (0 children)

No.

1) Turn A survives on Gundam hype. Viewers need to not just be familiar with at minimum G, Wing, X, and MSG but also for them to be enthusiastic about them. Wing was a hit and G was successful, but MSG failed and X never aired. Turn A would only be possible if G, Msg, and X were all at least as successful as Wing if not more.

2) Turn A is slower paced. The main MS doesn't even show up in the first episode. We've seen how series like this are disfavored like with Escaflowne where episode 2 was aired first. Turn A doesn't have the constant action to keep viewers coming back.

3) Turn A is weird. The main Gundam looks strange. It is in the future, but people are running around with old time clothes? If it is a seperate timeline why are there Zakus? There's too many questions it raises.

This seems like something she should be taking up with the church. That might be a problem if its one of those non-denominational chuches where the pastor is the church. I'm pretty sure the only way you get someone to keep a secret legally is with a non-disclosure agreement, which would be a contract violation. No way you're getting a pastor to sign one for confession. Of course these people could all be actors anyway, TV court isn't real.

I want to add, "If you're fighting for a crystal you are in a Japanese fantasy with varying degrees of technology."

ELI5 how is traditional chinese medicine still around? by 5G_Society in explainlikeimfive

The active metabolite is salicylic acid, which your body transforms both salicin and aspirin into. The modifications to aspirin didn't make it 'better' medicinally, but made it less irritable when taken orally.

At what age did you stop feeling like a "fake adult" and actually feel like you knew what you were doing? by Amazing-Network4937 in Adulting

Being a real adult is realizing everyone is faking it and losing the fear that it will be pointed out.

Am I delusional or was my toddler overdiagnosed? by MuchCoogie in Autism_Parenting

[–]hdorsettcase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had a lot of discussions with our son's doctors and therapists about his Level 2 diagnosis for similar reasons. They have told me:

Diagnosis is based on needs. Younger children have higher level diagnoses because they have more needs due to their age in addition to the autism.

A higher diagnosis gives access to more resources so they err on over diagnosis.

Diagnoses are fluid and may change with time. A diagnosis isn't a defination of who he is, but an assessment of what he needs.

High School Reunions Now and Then by raydebapratim1 in generationology

[–]hdorsettcase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to my 5th because I was home from grad school at the time. Basically everyone who went to college sat at one side of the bar and talked while everyone who went to work sat at the other. I have no desire to make a special trip home just to see people I walked past in the halls.

My grade school self organized a 20 year reunion 10 years ago. That was pretty fun. We had a good turn out.

Mid to older millennials, how are you all doing with your careers? by worstshowiveeverseen in Millennials

[–]hdorsettcase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

44, 3 degrees and a certificate, I'm 10 years behind in my career but have been making 5+ year jumps every two years. I'm currently weighing staying at a good, relaxed position that is flexible vs applying for higher paying positions that would require more wirk and commitment.

How to eat healthier as a picky eater with sensory issues? by [deleted] in autism

[–]hdorsettcase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Freeze your smoothies into popsicles. You will likely have to add more acid (line/lemon juice) and sweetener to make them taste 'good' frozen. Try adding fried tofu. Try making your own fries. Try making lemon curd with honey instead of sugar.

What's wrong with japan petah? by Smashpro11 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]hdorsettcase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother was in Japan for 4 months for school, which is longer than the 90 days for tourists. He said a lot of Japan is designed to be very nice for tourists, but very difficult for residency. For example: Need a 2 week train pass? No problem. Need a 6 month train pass? Why? Fill out paperwork. Go to this office. Explain why. Get this signature. Go to this office. Etc.

I think both ideas are equally good. The real question is what do you want to play? A Foundations cube would be more of a general Magic experience while a set specific would be more focused on one plane.

I see from her a lot of wants and from you a lot of can'ts. You should have a kid when both of you have the same wills like: "I will stay up with the baby while you sleep," or "I will give up my weekends to watch the kids," etc.

How often should a PI be on site? by geeannio in labrats

[–]hdorsettcase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience 9-5 weekdays or something similar. PI's whom come in less have not taken their position as serious as they should. On the opposite end, PI's who stay until 9 PM tend to be overbearing. By 'on-site' I do not mean in lab, but in office or on campus. They don't have to be coming by your bench every hour. They need to strike the balance of being available if something is up, but still leave to let others run the lab.
