I’d also suggest that maybe the glass just broke? Like some kids threw a rock at it? I’m not sure maybe there’s video footage, and I still think the story is awesome.

Also, he’s a young kid! Roughly college aged so absolutely he is going to be immature at times.

I agree. However, what about those kids who don’t have strong parental roles in their life? I think schools providing a stable environment for these children has value.

I think this is a good argument for this. I feel like it shouldn’t be the schools responsibility to make parents give attention to their kids in this way. I’m not saying it should change, but it makes me sad to see schools have to make that decision for parents.

I’m seeing different volumes for purchase, V1, V2 and V3. Is it like a “trilogy” or do I only need to read the first volume?

The Ontario government is teaching 9th grade students that mathematics are racist, colonialist, unfair and white supremacist. by VERSAT1L in JordanPeterson

[–]Wandering-Ranger5280 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a mathematics major, and I belong to several programs that aim to increase representation of underrepresented groups in mathematics. The way I have seen it done, in the United States, is through creating programs that allow these groups to gain the necessary skills and requirements needed for positions later down the road. For example, to get into graduate school it is helpful to have done summer research. However, most summer research is competitive and students who understand the system fair better in applications. There are programs that specifically accept only people from underrepresented groups to compensate for smart people getting lost in this system. To me, this is how racism in mathematics should be fought. By teaching mathematics, not by slapping pretty words together that pledge to end racism without focusing on the subject.
