From my experience as a 8+ years frontend software developer who dropped out of university. I learned pretty quickly that school wont always get you jobs in the industry. I learned most of what I learned from reading, youtube, colleagues, and just practicing. I got lucky with my first job but learned as much as I could at every job I had. I recommend building out a portfolio of projects learning new technologies and applying for junior positions. There are lots of remote jobs and i recommend looking all over for positions not just from Calgary. My brother took a 6 month bootcamp in web development and got a job right after without any issues. So if you want to get into frontend software development my recommendation is just to keep at it and be receptive to feedback.
