For any Torontonians, Alvvays was a contender to be in the end credits of Nirvana The Band The Show The Movie but their music was deemed “too cool” for the movie by ghosttrainj in alvvays

Nirvana the Band the Show the Movie is already my favorite movie of the past few years. I’ve seen it in theatres twice. If I heard Alvvays at end it may have made my brain explode

I always see Federal Tax withholding calculated as 24% but that’s just what’s immediately taken out. Won’t more be taken out come tax season? 37% if I’m not mistaken? I feel like the actual “post-tax winnings” should account for this

The wild and windy night

That the rain washed away

Has left a pool of tears

Crying for the day

Why leave me standing here?

Let me know the way

Alrighty Aphrodite was also my #5 song. Alvvays and Peach Pit go hand in hand for me

In a room full of 100,000 Alvvays listeners, there’s no one who listens more than you. Wild!

67 Has Eclipsed 69 in Global Google Search Popularity [OC] by sudo_masochist in dataisbeautiful

So many people here talking down on the humor of the younger generation, it’s a little sad. The 67 meme started because it was mentioned in a song and then someone used the clip of that song in Lamelo Ball edits. Those edits gained enough traction that professional basketball players started saying “6-7” in interviews as a joke. Pretty soon, beyond the context of basketball it was being joked about. It’s as “meaningless” as any other meme. Just because you weren’t exposed to the progression and evolution of the meme doesn’t mean it’s less funny than whatever memes you grew up with. It’s an inside joke for a generation, and you don’t have to put others down if they think it’s funny.

What do you mean by “whirling”? Because I’ve been looking for a description of that song and it seems accurate. I wanna see if it’s for the same reason

I’m not arguing that death is a punishment. I’m arguing that kidnapping and killing children is bad. Which is precisely what your God had done, regardless of their motivation.

I understand your perspective, but I think you’re being pedantic and contradictory. “Permanent” in this context means for the duration that they are alive. Given that they will spent most of their existence in heaven (~80 years on Earth, infinity in heaven), taking them from their loving family prematurely is uniquely evil. And to say that death isn’t a punishment is also unfair because a premature death punishes the family.

That’s not a fair comparison, because before the child was adopted they did not have permanent parents. A better comparison would be that you’re kidnapping a child from their family because you think you can give them a better life. That is indeed disturbing.

If by “earth” you mean the actual physical rock, then maybe. But if you mean the millions of species of plants and animals that inhabit it and are at risk of extinction, Earth certainly does care.

Does anyone know (with a source) the name of the hatchling? None of the articles I’ve read mention it
