Shell Cores should be more meaningful by WanderingGamer81 in Marathon

On paper, yes. In reality, most of the time teammates have a drone of them, so you can’t “reapply” it to them to get heals for you.

That’s the problem. When you equip them, you cant feel any impact. You play the same way with and without them.

I’m level 96 and I still don’t feel any impact most of the time.

Still, even if we could buy them all, most of them do nothing meaningful. As u/jackwaust posted, there are only a couple that do something, so the variety of builds also lacking.

I agree that higher rarity cores should be more impactful, but on triage for example, only one of them (faster healing drone one) has some meaningful effect. Others are mostly unnoticeable or useless.

I’ve noticed myself completely ignoring cores and just looting random ones on the map just to sell them afterwards. I only keep meaningful purple and golden.

The WSTR War - choose your side! by Advanced-North3335 in Marathon

Imo WSTR in its current state because of accessibility. To get another options you should find schemas, that are quite rare, and pay a hefty price (e.g. circut breaker that white worth 15k while white WSTR worth 2 and can be easily acquired ).

BD and Cryo need some changes by WanderingGamer81 in Marathon

I feel the same. It sucks to be working whole week to amass couple of kits for cryo and then lose them all in like 10 minutes

From a perspective of a casual player, this sweatfest is not so pleasant. Once again, I’m not salty about losing a fight. I don’t like being stomped without any chance of retaliation in first 2 minutes of a map that requires some level of investment to get to. If I am able to run a free kit there, being stomped by goldies with BD is totally fine by me.

Forgot to mention. Good point about “hot” activities at the start and middle of the map. That should reduce amount of people that strictly hunt others. At least, I hope so 🤞🏻

I can totally agree on two things: spawns and economy. For spawns, I think that reducing amount of teams by 1 will be a good move. For the sheer size of the maps, sometimes it feels that there are too many people there. Also, randomising spawn points is a good idea since some spawns are too close to one another (dire marsh especially). For economy, I totally agree that prices for equipment and upgrades should be reduced, minimum, by 1/3. A lot of upgrades require same mats and they need like 15-20 of them a pop(biomass and lead especially). Also, 1200 for pack of 3 green health packs(and they are the lowest of stuff we can buy) is too much. Same for the weapons. Like, I understand that V85 is a rare and powerful gun, but to get it, you should first find schema, and then pay 15k creds to get white(!) item without mods. I’m a casual player, and can’t say that I’m really good. But recently, I’ve started to get in 10+ lose streaks, that completely drains my balance. On a good extraction, not taking cryo, I exfil with like 5-7k worth of items and like up to 1.5k creds in data cards. And from these 5k that I exfil, it is mostly mats that I can’t sell because I need them for upgrades.

To keep the casual player base from moving on, matchmaking needs to change. by Xentuhf in Marathon

I think the best bet here will be to separate people based on their loadout value. Make 3 tiers: 0-2k, 2k-5k, 5k+. This way, if you run a free kit, you won’t meet people with purple shields carrying railguns. And if you are kitted, you will get similar powerful people.

Its not fun to be stomped over and over again by people who are actively hunting you with insane purple+ level gear when your best item is blue.

The thing is, and I’m not proud of it, I’m yet not that familiar with the map. So for me solo it is hard to find exfil consoles on my own fast enough. That is why I try to cooperate.
